My brother and I traveled from western NY to see our father in a local assisted living for his 89th birthday. After a nice visit we told Dad that we had to leave to go and get some sleep, He offered for us to stay in the room with him and we told him that we really couldn't.
When we got to the motel we could hear a LOUD pool party going on. We decided that we needed to give the motel a chance and we were tired from our long day. Upon entering the lobby just seemed "dirty". I went around the building to the entry door. When I looked up I saw that the vent cover to the attic of the building measuring several feet in diameter was off allowing anything to fly or crawl in!!. Entering the door in the back I immediately noticed all of the paper scraps in the hallway and the dirt/debris/hair etc. that collected in the carpet where it met the walls.I opened the room that we were given and did a room check before my brother came in. I inspect places for a living and I also have to travel a lot so I checked out the room just as I would when I travel for work. Well, I carefully moved the fitted sheet and found RED stains on the mattress and it was dirty. The light bulb between the bed didn't work and the carpet was dirty. UNACCEPTABLE!! I went to the front desk and told her that the room was unacceptable. She did give me another room upstairs to check out (no elevator) I climbed the stairs which were steep and THREADBARE in places. I passed by two rooms that did not have covers for the security peep holes in the doors, they just had holes in the doors where the security glass had been!!. I opened our room and it was cleaner that the first one and no trash. The mattresses appeared to be clean and no sign of bed bugs!. The pillows were the worst I have ever tried to put my head down on. All balled up with matted material on the inside:every SINGLE one!!!!! Disgusting!!.We were able to open the 2nd floor window the entire width of the window (? 36 inches?) and the window had no screen!!! (good thing no kids in the room) The dead bolt was difficult to manage and the inside of the coffee pot was not clean!!! The bathroom could have been thoroughly cleaned. We did get a few hours of sleep but not before my brother said that he had wished we had taken our father up on staying in his room at the assisted living!! (He was serious) The next morning I saw that the pool area had looked like a war went on with towels and bottles and cans all around.. The downstairs ladies bathroom off of the lobby had toilet paper and trash all over it. The second bathroom in the lobby area also had toilet paper and trash and a woman's shirt left in there!! Are you kidding me?????There were leftover cups etc in the lobby. I did tell the folks a the desk after we checked out how filthy it was and they were totally oblivious!! "where?" WHERE????????? Do you have "eyes"???? Look out across the lobby or go up the stairs or look outside etc etc etc!! This is a motel that you would probably find as a rent by the hour motel!!! GEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!! I told them that I was going to write about our experience online and the woman offered up the manager first. I said I would talk to him but he wasn't there. To the manager's credit,he did call me on our way back to NY. He offered to pay me back some of the money for our room.I said I didn't care, he could if he wanted to, but I was going to write something. He said that the housekeeper had called in the previous night. Are you kidding? He was trying to tell me that all of that grime and filth and dirty mattresses and security keyholes and threadbare carpet and musty dirty smells etc etc etc all happened in one night? Come on!!! Well, he did credit me oh, $15 and that is fine. HOWEVER, I feel obligated to write this as I would NEVER go there again. I would have had to travel elsewhere if I had any kids with me. It was scary enough for two adults!!! The Ramada should be ashamed to have this as part of their chain!!!!!!!!. DO NOT give one thought to staying here, you don't want to brings any bed bugs or anything else home!!!! Bring pillows and sleep in your car!!!
