“Best Hotel on Campus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

This hotel was great. I had my conference training at the hotel and it was very convenient. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They will try their best to accommodate you. There also complimentary shuttles that take you on Penn State University campus to check out the local sites. One of the driver, Chadwick, was very nice. He offered to wait for my coworker and I while we went on campus to get some food. Everyone was great!

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is little awkward because there's a mirror that separates the shower/bath with the toilet.

Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my stay!

“Penn Stater is a great hotel with a great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights. We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade. The food in the pub and in the main restaurant was excellent. The staff was very helpful and the drivers are ready to take you wherever you need to go.

“Nice for Business or Pleasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

A very nice and well maintained hotel. It is well suited for hosting conferences large and small. The Garden restaurant was outstanding. Room (King) was roomy enought with a decent sized bathroom that had a sink with vanity inside. An additional small sink was provided by the coffee maker and refrigerator. Other than the old CRT television, everthing was up to date. Only real complaint I would have would be that the indoor pool was too cold to use - although the adjacent hot tub was perfect. A 5 minute drive gets you from the hotel to all the action of downtown State College. Personally I prefer staying a small distance away and sleeping in a quiter environment...the Penn Stater fits that bill. I would recommend this as the first choice when staying in the area.

“Nice hotel but far from downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

The Penn Stater is probably one of the nicest hotels in State College - the only drawback is its location if you want to be near downtown. The hotel itself is pretty isolated - not really walking distance to anything. We stayed in a King Suite which had a separate living room and a big, modern bathroom. The hotel looks pretty institutional from the outside - like a dorm. The sports bar was nice to hang out in and watch games on TV, and the Garden Buffet had an excellent breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. We stayed here due to an event going on at the hotel, but also spent one night at the Days Inn to be able to walk around town. The hotel does have a free shuttle, but we didn't have a chance to try it out. Very good service - all of the employees were friendly and helpful. A nice touch was that there were several different types of pillows (one was tucked away in the closet), so you could choose a soft or firm one. Coffee machine with free coffee in the room, and free coffee in the lobby. Free WiFi. I would definitely stay here again.

“Modern, Comfortable and Clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Modern, comfortable and clean says it all. Rooms are large. Very good housekeeping. Easy check in and out. Nice, but high priced, gift shop.

It is located in an office park maybe a mile off campus from Penn State Stadium. Not within walking distance to town. Nothing nearby but offices.
