Wife and I decided to change from our usual MO and not stay in Scranton when I had business in the Towanda area of Pa. Normally due to the gas exploration going on in the area hotels in Towanda itself are price gouging. Charging over $100 per night average for hotels that are truly dumps for the most part caused us to stay in the Scranton area and then head East early in the morning toward Towanda. After doing that for several trips we decided to branch out and discovered the BriMarie Inn in Sayre.
Sent them and email and followed that up with a call and their baseline room was ours. Rate counting tax was circa $118 per night. For that rate you got a nice room with private bath in a restored beautiful hotel that had some of the best insulation one could imagine. Literally we overlooked a nearby convenience store and had zero problem with noise from the outside. Room was clean and furnished well. Probably could have used a desk lamp near a side chair, but that was easily overlooked given the quality of the rest of the room.
Important to add that this hotel was completely renovated and new plumbing and electrical added, without causing the facility to loose its character and charm.
Another plus is there is a very nice restaurant downstairs with a good bar attached. Nice attentive wait staff and meals was first rate. I had duck with mango chutney, wild rice and grilled veggies. My wife had a special pasta dish. We had side salads, 4 drinks and desert and total price (not counting tip) was $72.00 Now, in this day and age and considering the quality that's a bargain.
Couple of other things is parking is behind the inn, but there is also street parking between 5pm to 9 am for free right in front of the hotel.
No comment on the breakfast (I'm writing this the night before), but there is an absolute nice bakery/diner right next to the CVS pharmacy (immediately across the street) that is first rate. At most it a 2 minute walk from the hotel.
Guess that's it. FWIW, there is no frig in the room (but there is one in the hallways) and ice is provided by the bar folks.
In summary, we would stay there again and that's a good endorsement from us.
