My business colleagues and I planned to be in Reading for one night. Not wanting to stay in the usual corporate-chain hotel, we looked into local options for inns or B&Bs. We came across this gem online; I called the establishment directly and had a very pleasant conversation with George, the innkeeper. Since the inn had only four rooms, we basically took it over for the night and had it to ourselves, which was perfect. When we arrived, Cindy (George's wife) welcomed us warmly and to some much appreciated lemonade and cookies. The inn itself is a large old Victorian filled with beautiful antiques and places to sit and relax. Each bedroom was uniquely themed and had a lovely bed, more antiques and its own bath/shower. George and his wife gave us keys not only to our rooms but also to the inn itself, so we were able to come in late from our evening engagement without feeling intrusive or restricted. The next morning, we were treated to a very delicious and healthful breakfast of yogurt, muffins, granola, fresh fruit and selection of coffees and teas. George again was a doting host, and gave us a very personal history of the town of Reading itelf.
We really appreciated George and Cindy's hospitality and accomodations - they were so flexible. Even though there is much about the inn to make it seem more of a romantic or 'girlfriend' getaway, it is also perfect for business associates traveling together. It's convenient to town (taxi service is very reasonable) and in a quiet location with ample parking.
