“Not Clean”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We have stayed here in the past when visiting relatives and had been satisfied. After a few years of staying elsewhere, we returned to this hotel for a night. Not only was there mud and dirt on the carpeting in the lobby and on the stairs as if the place had not seen a vacuum in weeks, but the room was also dirty and our daughters allergies were severe. To add insult to injury, there was no coffee with the breakfast in the morning because the person at the front desk said "I don't have the key to the machine". Housekeeping also failed to leave coffee for the in room machine in the room. We were not happy campers, and in fact would probably have been happier had we been camping.

“I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this room - we used points.”

We needed a place to stay after a family reunion and for once, we found a hotel that we could use what little Choice points we have. It really was not good. There was a comedy show going on right next door and believe it or not, we did not hear any noise from the restaurant/show. That was the best part of our stay. The back parking lot had people hanging out in it (from the show) and my husband had to park back there. There are no lights in that back lot. Fortunately, all was okay the next morning with our car. The room was ok, my husband thought it was a dump. The entire hotel is really in need of renovation. The bathroom was so-so clean, could've been much better. Toilet had rust or hard water stains on the inside of the bowl - reminded me of a gas station restroom. One of the bed spreads had a cigarette hole burned into it, the bulbs put into the various sconces on the walls were way too high of wattage and really heated up the room, especially the bathroom which did not have a working fan to vent it out. The plus side was that it had a microwave/fridge in the room so we could refreeze our ice packs for our cooler and keep cold the drinks we had traveled with. The continental breakfast was ok - bagels/pastries, waffle maker did not work right. The coffee was terrible - it was a one cup at a time, make-your-own selection. My husband brought it back to me in the room with a bagel (which was good), and I couldn't drink the coffee. The powdered cream and sugar didn't help at all. The staff was helpful and polite during our stay. We were only there for 13 hours, but unfortunately we will not be back. It's a shame that this hotel is like this - it sits in the middle of a residential area and I think it could be really nice if it were better taken care of. Both my husband and I agreed that we would've been very upset if we had had to pay for this room. Next time, we will plan better and stay elsewhere even though this was a very convenient place for us. :-(

“Shabby, Stinky, Garbage Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

Our experience at the Reading Pennsylvania Quality Inn was a total disappointment. This was the worst Quality Inn I have ever stayed. There were major problems with hotel maintenance, housekeeping, and staff performance.

Our hotel room had a broken door lock, which we immediately report. We were promised that it would be fixed soon, but after a 3-hour wait we called the front desk and they then refused the do anything satisfying about the problem. The broken lock is a major safety issue, so we used our own tools to fix it eventually. We were offered to move from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor, but that is unacceptable due to our physical limitations, and the fact that there are no elevators at this location.

The coat rake in the room was very loose, attached to the wall on one side with just one loose screw. We reported this, and the staff was no concerned and never repaired it.

Our room was not cleaned the next day until after 2:30 pm. We had to call the front desk to complain about the room having been unclean. The most problematic issue regarding this is that we called the front desk at 11:15 am to advise them to have someone come to clean our room since we were leaving for a few hours.

The room overall was shabby, mold on sink stopper, draw handle hanging down, saw a but in the bathroom, bathroom venting system was hot working, toilet was in disrepair especially the handle, no facial tissues were available anywhere in the hotel.

The outside door was broken in the rear of the hotel and was propped open with a rock because the hotel keys could not unlock it, leave the whole premise open to an unsafe environment. The staff was advised about this, but they were totally uncaring. The outside grounds were unkempt, the garbage can was over flowing, refuse, bottles and can were everywhere, and there were dirty mattresses and mold were seen, there cigarette butts all over the outside grounds.

There seems to be no one on the staff to do even simple repairs, and no one seems to care. This is the farthest thing from being a Quality Inn. The name should be removed, and the rating should be poor!

This hotel is horrid. Unclean, unhelpful staff. Found a half-used Summer's Eve bottle under the sink. WTH was going on in that bathroom before I got there??

“Stay Away!!!”

Went to Reading, Pennsylvania to shop at the Vanity Fair Outlets. Terrific value. Our friends booked the Quality Inn Airport at a good price and since I have been busy, I didn't bother to read the review at Trip Advisor. Wrong move! This Quality Inn doesn't looked like a regular Quality Inn; it looks more like a run down hotel that has been taken over. The rooms (ours and our friends) stinks, dirty bath tub with molds around it. Ice machine on the second floor which is a walk-up (our friend is disabled). When I read the review in Trip Advisor, one reviewer comment that keep shoes on at all times since the floor is filthy. Too late; my feet were totally black since I was barefoot!! Although we requested no smoking room and there is a no smoking sign on the door, I woke up in the middle of the night with an asthma attack ... smoke was coming from the vent in the bathroom and I felt as though I had just smoked a pack of cigarette. I also think the hotel is a truck stop.
