“I made myself gardens and parks, and planted in them all kinds of fruit trees.” - Ecl 2:5
The Artist Garden just outside Reading, Pa is a peaceful, calming, and beautiful location to go for solitude, reflection and rejoining of your soul and spirit.
We found The Artist Garden by the fortunate opportunity of our oldest Daughter getting married. Our daughter wanted to be married outside in a location reflecting God’s beautiful creation and the joining of two individuals united into “one” of purpose and love. She found The Artistic Garden on the internet since it was near where my son-in-law’s family lived.
We retained the Cottage and grounds for one week in March for this purpose. My Wife and two of our other daughters all stayed at the Cottage on the grounds during this stay. The cottage is complete in having all your needs anticipated. There are two bedrooms for use with an additional sitting room and a front room outfitted with futons able to sleep 2 on each futon while retaining privacy for those who sleep in those rooms by having doors on each entrance. There is also two separate bathrooms with showers also available. This worked out extremely well for us, since I am the only “male” and my 3 daughters and wife were able to get ready for each day’s activities without my activities interrupting their preparations.
The kitchen is outfitted with a full sized refrigerator and gas stove. (Love cooking on gas!). We found enough pots, pans, dishes and “storage” containers to allow us to cook our meals and even save leftovers for later. The table has drop leaves that make it expandable to seat up to 6 or 8 people, depending on how “close” you want to get.
Throughout the cottage there is an abundance of seating options. The porch has various chairs, and even includes a table for enjoying family meals outside while enjoying the view. Inside the cottage are many areas to sit, relax, read etc. Out in the gardens you have an opportunity also to relax and marvel at the beauty of the gardens and the surrounding woods. By a large (Oak I believe) tree is a nice sitting area to see all these areas.
I am not sure how much space Trip Advisor will allow for my review, but I need to at least mention a bit about why we were here…..the Wedding!
This was the first marriage for my family of 3 girls. My oldest daughter moved from the west coast to east coast, and this was my families first exposure to it… we loved it! Trish was a wonderful resource and host! She has the local community knowledge and contacts to help provide for whatever circumstance might come up. We turned out needing party tents and Trish’s involvement in the local community provided for our need by allowing us to make a donation to a local charity in return for use of their unused tent. No, this was not a rental, we were just blessed with an opportunity to bless a local charity with funds to give back to the community. We also found the cottage had enough extra party tables etc to handle over-flow items we had not anticipated. Again Trish was very helpful and prepared enough to be able to provide these for us. The wedding was beautiful! We walked down the beautiful driveway, through one of the gardens, to an area with a trellis or portico set up, with the woods and gardens as the backdrop. While we have not received the wedding pictures back yet, I am attaching several for you perusal.
Let me close by saying that Trish is an awesome hostess. She respects your privacy, yet manages to be ever available as she maintains the grounds to answer and meet whatever your need is. We had many, since we were new to the area, and also had the wedding to attend to. Trish was wonderful in ever aspect, and is truly a “people-person”.
Thank you Trish for an awesome first exposure to the east-coast, and your unfailing help!
To anyone considering this location to stay at….Just do it! While it is secluded, you won’t regret staying here!
