“Great New Years Weekend at this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We were extremely happy with this hotel. We stayed here over the New Year's weekend and it was a great location for the first night celebration. You can walk to the theatre, restaurants and shopping. Check in was fast and easy. Steve the front office manager was on duty and welcomed us and answered all our questions. He was on most of the weekend and he and Holly answered our questions and helped us out on New Year's Day to eat at a restaurant cuz most were closed on New Year's Day. The cookies and hot chocolate were a nice touch. The room was spacious, nice and clean. The room didn't have a refrigerator but when I asked if they had one to go in the room Steve, the front office manager, told me he could put whatever we had in their refrigerator and all I had to do was ask when I wanted something. The parking was free which is definitely a plus. The morning breakfast was good, staff refilled everything promptly. There was hot food like bacon, eggs and home fries as well as a waffle maker, bagels, cereal, pastries etc. Would definitely stay here again. Also, if you are looking for a good place to eat near the hotel try Kaya. It is about 8 or 9 blocks from the hotel and has excellent caribbean food, the adobo marinated flank steak is SOO GOOD, we want to go back to Pittsburgh just for it.

“Hamption Inn downtown - great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We were very happy with the Hampton Inn downtown. The front desk staff went out of their way to help make our anniversary stay a great one. The room was spacious and clean and the parking was free. We will definitely stay there again.

“Great location and Good 3 star hotel with lot of amenities!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Hampton Inn in downtown Pittsburgh is located close to one of the rivers from where I could see stadium, science museum etc. It has free all american breakfast and free parking! Reception was okay. However, the room I got was unclean as the floor has dirty stains and the bathroom has some musky smell. Also, I was not able to sleep well at night because of noisey neighbors as walls between rooms are not soundproof enough. I had to watch some random movies to pass the sleepless night. When I get to sleep in the morning, house keeping girl came at 9 am knocking on the door! For that price, I should have gotten better sleep and better room! Overall, It's a good hotel at convenient downtown location, but it could improve on cleanliness and customers sleep quality!

“Great hotel in downtown Pittsburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This Hampton Inn is very clean and the rooms are spacious. The staff was very courteous and attentive. The rate was reasonable and it is walking distance to Heinz Field. If you are in town for a Steelers game, this is a great hotel to stay at.

“A Great Value for a Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Pittsburgh for the first time with two children. The hotel is very nice, is in a great location and is a great value. The check-in and staff were very friendly and efficient, the room was very nice, clean and comfortable. All the other reviews are right on. A couple of things to note: if available, upgrade for not much more to one of the suites. The corner locations have great views with multiple windows, amenities such as a kitchenette area; whirlpool tub and a sleeper-sofa. Maybe not truly a "suite" since it's only one large room, but the extra space is great. The only criticism is the toilet and tub are separate, but the vanity and sink open into the room, so there's no privacy at the sink, but this didn't bother us. The housekeeping was fine, although I was a little disappointed after leaving a decent tip that the housekeeper left the sleeper sofa half-open without making up the bed or even nicely folding the sheets and blanket. They also didn't replace the vanity kit in the bathroom (I needed the Q-tips, LOL). The swimming pool and sauna are fine, but the pool is small and can easily get filled up with slightly more than a handful of kids. Bring your towel just in case they are gone at the pool. The food at the complimentary breakfast was good as expected for this type of hotel, however the seating area is completely inadequate for a hotel full of families. Go at normal breakfast time and plan on waiting for a seat or taking the food back to your room. It would help if some of the less considerate guests would drink their coffee, read the paper and chew their cud in their room and allow others (with kids in tow) to sit and actually eat.

As mentioned in other reviews, the location is fantastic for visiting downtown Pittsburgh and my first impression is that Pittsburgh doesn't do public parking very well or cheaply, so the free parking is great. Even with the few negatives, this is probably one of the best Hampton Inns I've stayed at. When we come back, we'll probably stay here again.
