I was considering this property and the Best Western just a short distance away as it was considerably less expensive. However, after reading more than one review that pointed out a bed bug issue at the Best Western, the decision was made much easier!
As other reviewers have said, the property is on the verge of a huge multi-million dollar renovation - and all I can say is, it's about time! While the property has clearly had a number of major improvements prior to becoming a Doubletree - but there is a ton of work to be done to bring the property up to modern expectations.
The pool area looks like it is straight out of the 1970's - I REALLY don't think the pool area has seen cosmetic renovations since the Nixon administration.
The front desk staff is fantastic, the housekeeping staff is fantastic, and the property itself will be amazing once the renovations are complete.
However, one thing that really can't be changed much when it comes to renovation is the overall physical footprint of the bathroom. The bathrooms are very small - and I don't think there is much that can change about that in the renovation process.
But, even before the renovation the property provides a great location and a slightly lower than average market price.
The bedding is fantastic, and they made sure to honor my request for no feather bedding.
The room was very comfortable, and I enjoyed my stay! I would definitely go back when I'm in the area for work.
