I have often come to the Inn on the Mexican War Streets as a couple, but sadly returned to bury my partner. Found solace and comfort in the warmth of the Inn. And found many other travelers out on their own as well, many of them women happy for the security of the setting.

This historic neighborhood is full of classic Victorian architecture and history. Gertrude Stein and Martha Graham were born here, just a few blocks from that big handsome stone porch out in front.
I go for morning coffee in the rain sitting out front facing those giant elm trees in the park.
And a glass of wine or champagne in the late summer evening before turning in for the night.
