After about 7 trips to Pittsburgh, all for several days each, I think this place is the best one of four others I have tried. First, the location is good, with easier access to downtown area, stadiums, universities and so forth, i.e., you do not have to travel through the tunnel... on the other hand it is on the "wrong" side of the river so you do need a car. It is very clean and I guess pretty new. Located adjacent to a huge outdoor shopping area that includes a majesterial Loew's cinema, so there are plenty of places to walk around, shop in, and eat. Pool is smallish but clean and more than functional. Ditto the workout room. Wireless access is fine and free. So is parking. Some of the bar staff can be rude or curt, and the bar prices are too high. Otherwise, I think you will see mostly smiling and very competent staff. Overall, the rooms are about 20% overpriced (but they are large and well equipped, including a small fridge, very handy, and a decent sized bathroom). This is not a pleasure palace by any means. But Pittsburgh has one heck of a lot of not so nice hotel/'motels with mediocre service and a rundown feeling. This is a place you would be proud to have a family reunion. If you don't fret about the cost too much, the accommodations will more than satisfy you.
Just incidentally, there is a train whistle in the distance. Did not bother us and I am somewhat obsessive about noise.
