“Can't they find sheets that fit?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed at the Residence Inn Pittsburgh Airport Coraopolis for two nights in December when we were in Pittsburgh for a meeting. I was looking for something near the airport at a reasonable price. This place was just okay. It is looking a little dated and worn, but it would have been okay except for one major inconvenience -- none of the sheets fit on the beds! I don't just mean a little bit, I mean that the sheets hardly eve covered the bed. You couldn't even just try to get in in the most careful way -- by the time even the soundest sleeper woke up, you would find you'd been sleeping on the mattress directly. Ugh. Hey, Residence Inn, get some decent linens, okay? That's just a minimum standard for any inn or hotel.

“Good location, so-so room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

The location was great - a quiet spot near a shopping center area, and about 10 minutes from the airport. The rooms are regular Residence Inn suites, so they are spacious with average-quality furnishings. This place is showing its age, and the rooms and lobby have obvious wear-and-tear. There are not elevators in all the buildings.
At check-in, I asked for a quiet room, so the clerk gave me a 3rd floor room. I didn't have much luggage, so there was no problem for me to walk up the stairs. The room was isolated for the noise of other rooms, but it had its own noises. The ventilation was quite noisy - well above the threshold for "white noise." I like to turn on the climate control fan only to generate white noise, but this was way too loud for that (the fans in both the living area and the bedroom were noisy).
The room was only OK for cleanliness - a little mildew on the ceiling in the bathroom and a less-than-fresh smell for the room overall. Not nasty by any means, just sub-par.
On the plus side, there is free wired and wireless internet - Wi-Fi worked fine. Breakfast was free.
I would stay here again because of the location and value - free internet. free breakfast, close to the airport, not expensive. I stayed at the Pittsburgh Marriot Airport beofre, which is (of course) nicer, but there are surcharges for internet access, surcharges for printing boarding passes, no free breakfast, and they are regular sized hotel rooms.

“GROWN SISTERS AND MOM'S BIRTHDAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Every year 3 sisters and I get together and steal my Mom for her birthday. We stay in Pittsburgh but at a hotel as our get away from our husbands. We check in than go eat, movies, shopping and than back to the room to laugh and talk into the wee hours of the morning. We pop back up in the morning for more eating and shopping before splitting up and going back to our respectives lives. This year my baby sister (41) chose the Residence Inn by Marriott at the Airport. Our room was not ready when we arrived but we were able to check in and the exceptionally friendly staff promised when we got back we could just grab the key on our way to our room. After a wonderful day and evening we tiredly stumbled to the room. When we entered it we all got a burst of energy. The room was a two bedroom suite and beautifully done with inviting beds and two bathrooms which we squealed in delight at (Five women together having two baths when your away is like heaven) We sprawled out in the well appointed livingroom and hit the button for the fireplace as my 78 year old mother told us to just leave her there when we checked out the next morning. When we finally piled two to a bed and one on the comfy couch we slept like babies. But what struck us the most was the staff : from the housekeepers to the front desk the hospitality was top notch much like you would find if you were paying 5 times as much for the room. I would tell anyone who needed to stay somewhere for one night or a long extended time to pick the Residence Inn. Will be back before my Mom's next birthday that's for sure. May just make up a special day called "Need a Residence Inn Getaway" Oh and it is a stones throw from Robinson Townships' Shopping: This is the best place in Pittsburgh. You don't need to leave your city for a quicky vacation. Thanks Residence for a spectacular weekend.

Room Tip: If there are two couples traveling together or parents and kids pick the two bedroom suite and you w...

“A great choice for family groups.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

My adult siblings and I met up with our parents here for a family wedding in the area. We reserved a 1BR and 2BR suite and I called ahead to request early check in and that the rooms be adjacent or reasonably close together. The staff was able to accommodate both requests, though the 1BR suite wasn't ready early--at least the bigger room was available for us to put our stuff in and relax for awhile. The 2 BR suite is a great value for two couples splitting the price--with two bathrooms, TVs in each room, and a large living area, there was plenty of room and privacy for everyone, and great space to convene and hang out. We prepaid for the 1BR and got an excellent rate. It was also surprisingly quiet inside the rooms. I never heard anyone while we were there.

The hotel is conveniently located near the airport and the parkway without feeling like you're right in the middle of traffic. It's also near tons of shopping and chain restaurants. It's a quick drive downtown if traffic is cooperating. The pool is nice, if a bit small. It would be better if the smoking section wasn't RIGHT next to the pool. Not much segregation for those of us who want to be in the pool without inhaling smoke.

Breakfast is decent, certainly a cut above if you're used to continental breakfasts. There's even oatmeal and fruit for the vegans among you. But it's very busy and crowded on the weekends. I'd strongly recommend bringing dishes down from your room so that you don't have to use the styrofoam and plastic supplied in the "gatehouse," and then take them back up to your room when you're done (housekeeping will run your dishwasher). Disposable dishes are terrible practice and generate tons of waste.

The parking lot was being resurfaced--on the Friday of a holiday weekend!--which was really inconvenient and caused a lot of problems with both finding the hotel and getting in and out of the lot. I would have appreciated knowing about this ahead of time.

Overall, a really good choice if you're going to be spending any time hanging out in your hotel (beyond just sleeping).
