America's Best Value Inn and Suites has been a hotel chain we have used once before. Both experiences were very good. In Oil City we arrived after a drive which began in CT....a very long day. It was a pleasure to find an excellent restaurant in the hotel itself...no going to Mickey D's or casting about for a suitable eatery! We ate there both nights. And the breakfast buffet! The waffle maker was the best we've encountered--that alone will bring my husband back! And there was a fine variety of toastables, cereals and fruits.
The room was generous in size--two double beds, fridge, table and chairs, plenty of room to set up our computers with no cumbersome access codes. Our dog was very happy to have plenty of room for her bed too under the generous extended vanity counter outside the bathroom
. The hotel is set adjacent to a lovely park at the side of the Allegheny River so we were able to walk in very pleasant circumstances with the river and sculptures on our route.
Being downtown we were in walking distance to many historic buildings from the period when oil was discovered and we enjoyed the present uses of some buildings--National Transit building as an artists' enclave with studios and shops and the old post office a science museum. We will plan to return to the in with it's very pleasant and attentive staff on our next trip to visit relatives in IN.
