“Fun for the Whole Faily”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Wife and I, along with two grandsons (aged 8 and11) spent two overnights at this farm/B&B located near Mount Joy, PA. The house was very well kept as well as the surrounding property. Two other families with children were also there. Breakfast, served family style, included: egg casserole, breads, juices, coffee, milk sausage and cobbler was very good. All the children enjoyed their morning chores - feeding the goats and sheep, and collecting the eggs in the hen house. There were kittens and cats ever present which were spoiled rotten by the kids. The hayride to the adjoining farm was very interesting. The inn keepers, and their staff, were very attentive and pleasant. The grandsons want to go back next year. Great place for families and couples.

“Fantastic place to stay, very relaxing and enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

We just returned from the Country Log House and Farm. What a wonderful place. Jim and Mim are fantastic hosts. My kids weren't sure how they were going to like staying on a farm, but when the time came to leave they were sad. They did chores with Jim of collecting eggs, feeding the goats and sheep and even attempting to milk a goat. Jim then took us on a hay ride to his nephews large Dairy Farm. We even got to go on an ATV ride to go look at a beautiful sunset one night. The breakfasts were fantastic and Jim and Mim were very helpful with finding good places to eat dinner. It was conveniently located just 30 minutes from Hershey and 1 1/2 hours from Gettysburg. Jim gave us hugs when we left and gave the kids little souvenir key chains. Even my teenage daughter loved it. The rooms are typical bedroom size rooms so if you are expecting hotel sized rooms you might be disappointed, but we only slept in the rooms anyway because there was too much to enjoy outside, even if we just sat in a rocking chair on the porch.

“Great for the kids, even teens.”

You try making a vacation with two 15 year olds, and a 9 and 10 year old. Well, our stay with Jim and Mim started off on a positive note for everyone, just driving up to the farm. The place is clean, charming, and who can resisit the kittens? The room was clean, and pleasant. Breakfast was very good like everyone describes. The highlight was the "hay ride." The kids talked for days describing the visit to a 700 cow dairy farm. Seeing a commercial farm, and where our milk comes from is amazing. Driving through the Pennsylvania Djtch countryside is nice, but seeing the farms up close is phenomenal. Yes, I highly recommend.

“We absolutely loved it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

Mim is the best cook on the planet and Jim is just a great guy. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the whole place is just so homey. The breakfast is incredible!! There was so much food there was no way 20 people could have eaten all of it. This couple is the warmest, friendliest and kindest around...don't miss a chance to stay with them.
By the way, we stayed in the summer of 2009, but were not able to choose that date. Recently, I emailed with Mim for more cook books from her church that have all her breakfast recipes. She sent them right away and sent a paper bill! How's that for down country trust and charm!!

“A True Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

We went for three days. We have two children, 9 and 11. The farm was absolutely wonderful! Jim and Mim are extrememly charming. The breakfast (served at 8 am) is delicious, the farm and grounds are immaculate, and the setting is relaxing. There is a basketball hoop in the back, kittens, goats, sheep, and chickens in the front (no roosters!). Jim takes everyone to help with the morning "chores" which include feeding the animals and collecting the eggs. We even held the baby goat! Then Jim takes everyone on a tractor hayride to his nephew's dairy farm and you get an education on dairy farming... very interesting! We took a couple of daytrips to Gettysburg, Amish country, and Hersheys, which are all relatively close by. We highly recommend staying there. The kids cannot wait to return!
