“Best breakfast ever!”

Every morning when I wake up I look forward to pony rides, breakfast, hay rides, tractor ride, and the fork ride. This is a great family trip, if you don't want to stay at the farm during the day...there are many attractions close by. In the morning you can feed the calfs and at night you can milk the cows. There is something here for everyone. We have been coming for over ten years now and have made many new friends. We all meet back here every year. If you love breakfast this is the place!

“We can't wait to go back!!!!”

We have been several times over the past six years to Rocky Acre Farm. Every time we leave, we think about when we will return. It feels like a home away from home. The charming and comfortable rooms are clean and roomy. The breakfasts offer delicious and plentiful food as well as the opportunity to meet such interesting people. Our kids (12 and 15) love, all the farm has to offer, from basketball, to opportunities to milk cows, gather eggs or ride a golf cart or even to relax and watch a movie.
The Benners are gracious hosts and you can join in conversations, card games or retreat to a sitting room or your own room for quiet reading. The staff is wonderful and adds to the feeling that you are visiting with family. We would recommend a visit to all!

“What a wonderful experience!”

This was our third visit to the farm and will continue to visit for years to come. We enjoy the hopitality of the owners Mr. and Mrs. Benner as well as their staff. They are very kind towards all their guests. Breakfast was a feast to say the least, if you walked away hungry it was definately your fault. The farm is pristeen, not a blade of grass out of place. They have pony rides for the children and hay rides for everyone to enjoy. There are plenty of farm animals to enjoy including cows, pony, goat, chickens and of course the cats and kittens. They were even very well taken care of and clean. I would recommend this Bed and Breakfast to everyone, you will walk away with a new experience each time (sometimes you even get to see a calf being born). What a wonderful visit we had again this year, it is like visiting family they are so wonderful it's very hard to leave.

Room Tip: They are all very unique rooms and all are wonderful, you won't be dissappointed.

“The stay was too short!”

After many years of vacationing in Lancaster County, a family wedding brought us to Rocky Acres. The five of us divided up between my husband and I in the Fireplace Room and the other three adults in the Guest House. The breakfast was delicious and a wide variety of homemade food. It was so good, I purchased the Rocky Acres Cookbook! Our accomodations were clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay. The bummer.....we only stayed two days and wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy life on the farm. The hostess suggested a visit to Root's Farm Market on our way out of town and we were not disappointed. It was a fabulous memory.

Room Tip: The Fireplace Room was very cozy!

“I am still trying to figure out why everyone makes a fuss over this place”

Our family of four, including 2 young children, visited in September. We arrived at around 8pm since all the roads getting to the farm were closed from hurricane flooding (it would have been nice to have been told of the closings when we called at 3pm). I had called at 3 to say that we would arrive after dark. I was told that someone would be there, or at least a note would be left. Well, neither of those things happened. We had to go into the main farmhouse, search for someone, and wound up being told by someone (not the innkeeper), how to get to the 'Guesthouse' which is a separate building which is down the street and up a hill from the farm. We had to drive back twice because we were not sure we found it. Well, that was because it is not a guesthouse at all: your quarters are the rooms above a 2-car garage in a 1980's McMansion. Not the best way to start out.
The guesthouse has been furnished in mix-n-match 1985 furniture and decor. Spacious but odd layout. The ample beds are comfortable, but I smelled cigarette smoke in the rooms the entire stay (there has probably been cigarette smoking in those rooms for 20 years, I guess).

The Inn keepers did not make any announcements before or after breakfast as to what was offered (barn tours? any information at all?), but they were sure to include a long and Jesus-y grace before the meal. The food is plentiful and delicious, served family style at communal tables. After breakfast we assumed we would be told where we could go or what we could do on the farm, but that never happened. Some previous guests seem to know what was up, so they informed us that there would be a ‘train ride’ soon. It was all quite weird.

The farm sits up on a hill, so the only place to play for the kids is on steeply sloped and blacktopped driveway (we have more greenery on which to play in our NJ backyard). The bicycles and scooters available were mostly old and broken or not riding correctly. An older gentleman did take the kids out on a train made of old steel drums. But that was it. We heard from other guests that the hurricane blew away the chicken coop, so there was no visiting there (which we were looking forward to and a main reason for our stay). There are tons of cats, but the room the kittens were in was a filthy backroom (much of the farm is dirty or rundown). Most of the other buildings on the property seemed to be in disrepair. It almost looks like buildings are abandoned. Add to all of this the fact that the hosts were not all that friendly, and I am still wondering why people rave so much about Rocky Acre! I understand there are many return guests who have been coming for years. But when we return to PA Dutch area, we will not be staying here.

"What is all the fuss about Rocky Acre?" We appreciate your question and the opportunity to respond. We are not trying to be more than what we are. We are a dairy farm offering an experience to try milking the cows, feeding the calves, and gathering eggs….and just for fun, we throw in a pony ride, train ride and hay ride. We have a casual atmosphere where guests can relax, meet new people and allow their children to play, cuddle with the kittens and make new friends. We have a beautiful green meadow with kayaks, fire pit and a tire swing which you can enjoy. We have many guests who have met here and come back each year together. Eight of the nine families staying here your same weekend reserved for the next year. However, your comments are very important to us and we have already made changes for improvements. We apologize for not having a note on the door when we are not immediately available. We normally go over our activities at check-in, but we also provide a guide book in your room for Rocky Acre. Breakfast is another great time to ask questions about the farm or your plans for the day. The chicken house has been replaced which was destroyed by the flood and we have updated our Guesthouse accommodations. The Guesthouse offers spacious accommodations with a full kitchen and living room area, nestled in the quiet woods. All of our rooms are non-smoking and pet free. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced and would appreciate the opportunity to serve you again.
