“Nothing special, but it does the job”

Stayed here one night while visiting family in the area. For the discounted rate that we got, it did the trick. Definitely no-frills, but we weren't looking for perfection.

I do have to say- the staff was always REALLY nice. From the young lady who checked us in at 11:30PM to the gentlemen who checked us out the next morning, the staff here was a lot better than I have seen at many other hotel chains, and that goes a long way. I also liked that we got little 'gift bags' upon checking in with shampoo, granola bars, etc.

The negative: The AC was not on in the room when we got there, so it was VERY warm in the room after a very hot day outside. That was actually the most annoying thing, since we checked in late at night and it then took another 2 hours to cool the room down enough to sleep.

The bed wasn't that comfortable- very hard, but I suppose that's a personal preference. The reception on the TV wasn't great, and there was some staining on the countertop (which we didn't need to use anyway).

All that said, i'd stay here again if it was the cheapest hotel in the area. The kitchenette area would be very convenient for extended stays/business travel.

“GREAT HOTEL!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2009

My husband and I stayed at the Homestead in Malvern for 6 nights and were very happy with the hotel, so when we came back to the area we stayed again. As soon as we walked in the lobby we were welcomed by the staff and manager, Gelila. Our room was very nice, a two room suite. The bed was comfortable and the room was VERY CLEAN. This extended stay hotel has all the extras...pool, exercise room, and a continental breakfast M-F. This property is very well managed and I would recommend it to anyone staying in area.... Whether staying one night or a month this is the hotel to stay at if you are looking for a nice clean room and terrific staff to make you feel at "home".

“Awful experience - NOT worth the price - pay a little more for something better”

There were MANY things wrong with this week-long stay:

1) Their front desk computer was down and we had to get a new keycard EVERY DAY
2) It was the middle of summer, and they refuse to turn the hallway a/c on. Walking to the room was like walking through a sauna.
3) The bowls and plates in the room were in the shelf, but DIRTY. Had to wash them all by hand.
4) The hotel has a one-way drive that eventually becomes a major pain in the hind.
5) The hotel is very hard to get to; you can basically access the entrance from one direction, and if you're coming from the other way, you must do a u-turn ballet.
6) THe DSL is EXTREMELY slow, and cuts out all the time.

I will probably be coming back to the area again next year, but will NOT stay here. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this hotel!

“Okay stay at this Homestead”

As other reviews have mentioned, there are some negatives that you should be aware of at this low-frills facility - like limited maid service. Things like that don't really bother me though as I was only there for 3 days. When I needed something, the front desk readily provided it. I did get bitten by the "full kitchen" that lacked an oven though. So what do I do with the frozen pizza now? The breakfast bar was a bit disappointing, and non-existent on the Saturday morning that I left on. Oh well... wanted to hit the local Dunkin Donuts anyway (thank goodness we don't have them in California - I'd weigh 100 pounds more)

On the plus side, my room was spacious and clean and everything worked. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of well-lit parking. It was quiet. All-in-all, if you're looking to save money (on the rate and having a kitchenette), this is an okay place to stay.

“Do Not Stay Here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2008

I ended up at this hotel because the nearby Staybridge Suites bumped me despite a confirmed reservation. This is a miserable place to stay. All the furnishings were worn and stained. In fact I had to drape a sheet over the couch before I would consider sitting on it; the desk chair was severely stained and broken to the point where it could not be adjusted, necessitating my sitting on two pillows in order to even reach the work desk; the phone at the bedside was completely non-functional; and the TV remote control worked approximately 30% of the time. I barely tolerated the musty smell of sweat and aftershave. The worst though was the continental breakfast. The decaffeinated coffee was truly inedible, the only cereal was instant oatmeal, (and the only hot water for it was from the spigot on the coffee machine) and the cranberry juice was almost completely water. That, coupled with the marks on the table showing the poor attempt at wiping it clean, made me beat a hasty retreat first thing in the morning.

  • Liked — I didn't have to pay for it
  • Disliked — Stained and uncomfortable furniture and awful continental breakfast
