“What I expected for the price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2010

Ok, so I was a little hesitant to book here after reading the reviews, but to be honest with you this hotel wasn't that bad. For $50, I got a clean room and a comfortable bed, plus a 24 hour a day airport shuttle which was big as my wife and I had to catch a 5:55 AM flight, thus the reason for staying overnight near the aiport. Plus we were able to park our car there for $6.95 a day. A pretty good value.

So this hotel is no Ritz Carlton, but I felt safe and the bed was actually quite comfortable and the room was pretty clean. For a place to crash before a flight, this feet our needs!

“Is this really safe?”

We got to the Econo after booking on priceline for 57.00. The room is clean, but it's a really tiny space. We stayed in room 112, the door is kinda scarey because it's not fitted properly (it's too small for the frame) and we are on the ground floor in the corner of the place. We are here celebrating our 1 year anniversary, and flying out tomorrow am. The hotel is VERY close to the airport, you can park your car here during your trip for a fee. (I paid for the Fast-track parking though). They have HBO, Internet..so all in all other then the door everything is nice enough.

“Econolodge Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

First of all, it needs to be mentioned that there are SEVERAL Econolodges in Philadelphia, and even more than one that could be considered the "Airport" location. For reference, the one we stayed at was located at 2015 Penrose Ave.

The only reason we stayed here is because the ad in the airport next to the courtesy phones advertised a low price and a complimentary airport shuttle. Our flight was canceled so I was looking for somewhere cheap to stay for a few hours overnight instead of staying at the airport. I remembered staying in these hotels in the past and thought they were decent. I am now forever turned off of this chain.

Pros:
- Free 24 hour shuttle to airport
- Worker at front desk was nice enough to let me use the computer behind the counter to check my flight status and print out boarding tickets
- A/C

Cons:
- Filthy rooms
- Halls smelled bad and were very hot
- No alarm clock in room (though wake-up calls were available)
- Non-smoking room had obviously been smoked in
- Room and hallways in disrepair
- Moldy bathroom and toilet was not cleaned
- Extremely disgruntled shuttle driver (not as bad in the morning, but picking us up at night he was throwing stuff in the van)
- Wife very unhappy

My wife and I are not very picky when it comes to hotels most of the time. We usually end up exploring the places we are in and don't end up spending too much time in the hotels. We've been to plenty decent "budget" hotels in the past with no problems, but this one was pretty nasty. We'll definitely be more careful in the future.

“A perfectly good place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2009

I stayed here for two nights in the middle of July. I found it a great hotel with plenty of the amenities I care about. My priorities are: (1) clean sheets and towels, (2) hot water at a good pressure, (3) true "high speed" Internet, and (4) relative quiet. The bedding was great, the towels were some of the softest I've ever had, the shower was hot and steady, and the free Internet was over 10 Mbps - that's better than my home connection! As for the quiet, it IS near the airport so you will occasionally hear airplanes, but I never had a problem with that, especially with the A/C running (new unit). Yes the room had some issues - the metal door was hard to open and close because it fit so tightly into the frame, and the wallpaper in the bathroom wasn't perfect. But I just don't care about those things. That's why I'm not paying $200 a night. This hotel was perfectly good for my stay and I'd definitely stay here again.

“worse place I've ever stayed”

Better to spent night in car than this hotel. Manager was odd, didnot know how to talk to customers. I do not recommend anyone there.
