It's an above average hotel. with helpful staff and the suites are very large and well-furnished...it's fairly new, too!
Also - it's huge. Don't bother with the gym (which is AOK, btw) just concentrate on hauling your bags to/from your room without requesting a sherpa guide or a golfcart.
The rooms have very thin walls. VERY thin. I was awoken by my neighbor brushing their teeth. Not gargling....just the sound of brushing. That's THIN. No joke. Stay away from rooms facing the train tracks - the train drivers seem to relish waking up the hotel residents at all hours of the night, and it's no good keeping the HVAC fan running which is what i normally do to dampen room noise - it cycles repeatedly anyway with the most ear-splitting startup cacophony.
I may stay there again - but i'll take earplugs....and a sleeping pill....AND i'll pick up one of the carts in the lobby for my bags......and ask for a compass when seeking my room.
IF you get there well before 7pm there's the manager's reception - the food is good and wholesome but it's cleared away pretty promptly before 6.55pm, ditto the beer and wine. OK, so the staff have homes to go to....but really shouldn't guests be treated like guests and not inmates?
Breakfast was better if a little unimaginative. Lobby and other shared spaces were clean and comfortable. The hotel shop had plenty of what it offered but remarkably poor selection. Hmmm....fortunately there is a market down the street that doesn't close til 9pm. Dining in the area is not a 'target rich' environment, sadly....and NOwhere within walking distance.
All hotels in this area (King of Prussia/Plymouth Meeting and Lansdale) are expensive - but even so, this one is damned pricey for what you really get...oh and if you're there for merck (next door) you can ONLY get the merck rate with your merck id. Visitors to merck can suck waffle balls as far as hotel management is concerned.
Finally a word to management - i was a little perturbed when i noticed the fist-shaped hole in my room's bathroom door. YES it had been patched up, but it was still glaringly obvious. Word - if you have a quality property, repair it properly or sell it to owners who will. Just my honest 'road warrior' opinion, fwiw.
Oh. and last but not least - parking. Parking near the lobby would be nice. More of it please.
Will I be back? Big maybe.
Room Tip: AWAY from the train tracks
