“Save Your Money - Mother's Day Brunch Review”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

Poor, poor poor dining experience. We dined at the General Lafayette Inn for Mother's Day in May and all I can say is if you enjoy overcooked and tasteless food, long waits for buffet items to come out and grocery store bought cut-up Entemann's pastries then this is the perfect spot for you. The buffet kept running out of food and I can still remember the faces of the little kids who were standing there waiting a very long time for the waffles and the frustrated mother's trying to keep them calm. The "coffee station" that our waiter told us about was a tray placed atop a serving rack that was for the ENTIRE dining room. It was a carafe of regular and a carafe of decaf - and they kept running out. The dining area looks nothing like on the Web site and it's very worn and tattered. Please, if you are going to take your Mother out for brunch, go elsewhere.

“Most hideous place on the planet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2009

I always wanted to stay here. I was really intrigued. Boy, what a mistake and waste of money this was. To start with, we had dinner, which was mediocre at its best. The owners were on site, with a friend who must have been from out of town. Talk about low class and no manners. I was appaled at their behavior. You could tell the owners wife was mortifed. Just because one has money does not mean one has class or manners. We went to our room. What a joke. this is not a true BANDB but some building in the back of the inn. There was no breakfast foods, or coffee that I saw. There was some soda. for 175 a night this was a total rip off and toally disgusting. This is one place I truly think people in the area need to avoid. I never did get any type of an apology from the owners. In my opinion pure trash. This is a real review and yes I did stay there and yes it was horrible.

“Modest experience”

Website doesn't fairly represent property. The "Inn" is a house separate from the restaurant, in the rear. Two bedrooms downstairs and three upstairs. Property is old and shows it's age. There is no staff or management in the home, check-in is at the restaurant. We paid for three nights in advance upon check-in. Handwritten note on room door instructs us to leave the room door open when we leave. We had problems with temperature in the room and the TV would not bring-in the major networks. We asked in the restaurant for assistance, which they stated would take care of it, but they never showed up. Morning breakfast is "serve yourself" in the kitchen, but not much of anything there, and no way of knowing how long it has been there. The coffee machine was pretty good and free soda pop was nice. The house has a "musty" smell, not bad, just musty. The room was not cleaned on two of our three days. The grounds outside the house reflected only basic maintenance, with a full ashtray and broken lights. The restaurant has a small working brewery and produces some good beer. The restaurant apparently caters to a "smoking crowd", which seemed to be primarily "local regulars". Not much in the area to see or do, we should have stayed downtown in Philadelphia. At about $150 per night, this is a bad deal. Perhaps at maybe $75 per night would properly reflect this value of our stay.
