What a gem of a B&B! Thank you, Gilja.
This is a handsome stone Arts & Crafts era house, tasteful and immaculate inside & out. The location is convenient to the Brandywine Valley sights, Philadelphia and Lancaster County. My husband and I look for quiet and well ordered accommodations, and we couldn't have been happier. We always got a perfectly serene night's sleep, so it was almost a surprise to come down to breakfast and find we had company. If a room had been available (that is, if we had booked early enough), we would have stayed longer than four nights.
The Delaware Suite is adorable, cozy and comfy for two. The Longwood Suite is really spacious, ideal for a long stay or for three people. Comfort is key. There are en suite sitting rooms, spa robes, lighting where you want it, wireless internet. Gathering areas are stocked 24/7 with cold beverages, a guest computer, good books, rocking chairs on the ample porch. Breakfasts are delicious and so well presented that we wanted to photograph them.
Gilja is delightful and sooo considerate. She is also generous with good advice regarding sightseeing, restaurants and logistics.
Restaurants, shops, even laundry service are walking distance from Kennett House. That is a bonus after a full day of touring or business. If you're putting together a picnic, check out the excellent bakeries, like Great Harvest and Talulah's (which also has artisanal cheeses). Country Butcher is 3 minutes' drive on the other side of the village, with a wide selection of gourmet and fresh food.
We know where to stay in this lovely part of Pennsylvania!
