One night stop over to break the drive back home, decided to stay at Comfort Inn after a wonderful experience the previous night in Lakes entrance. We quickly learned that all Comfort Inn’s are not the same and our room was quite different and older in decoration. Room had a queen-sized bed, which was comfortable for the night. Service was ok, did not have breakfast. We found the staff to be pleasant also.

This motel is tired and in need of a major makeover. On arrival the reception staff was friendly and we were made very welcome. Our room had a smell of air freshener or disinfectant, most unpleasant, but we got used to it. Most of the furniture and fittings were past their use by date. The advertised pool was closed for maintenance, and the restaurant was closed in the evening, no explaination given.The restaurant was open for breakfast, but we decided to give it a miss.

Three of us spent one night at the Comfort Inn on the Coastal Drive from Melbourne to Sydney. We had a family room (12A and 12B) which is 2 adjoining rooms (1 with a double bed, the other with 2 singles) for $125. Two rooms for that price, I guess you can't expect much.

However I would not stay at this hotel again (as a caveat I'm not used to motel style accommodation). Difficult to describe in words - the room was dark with a strange musty odor. The decor is extemely dated (early 1970s) and just the way everything looked you did not want to touch things. Only one of the rooms had air conditioning and a hair dryer that worked. The rooms had ants especially in the bathroom.

Options for accommodation in Merimbula are limited so if you are just looking for a place to sleep, this is fine. However this is not the type of room for a holiday or vacation. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the proximity to town center is also a plus.
Free internet access did not work in our room, however it was available in the lobby.

Stayed one night while driving the coast road between Sydney and Melbourne. Couldnt fault it. The owners couldnt do enough to help, Had groung floor room looking out to distant sea. The swimming pool was very pleasant. Breakfast was not included in room price. Unusually for this type of accommodation you chose from a menu and paid individually for each item which was cooked fresh, very good it was too. If you are in the area and need a place to stay this may be the one.
