My husband and I have just returned home after a long weekend stay (Friday to Monday). The stay was pleasant enough, but we only used the hotel as a base. The staff at the hotel are friendly and welcoming, and happy to help in any way they can. We arrived late on the Friday evening, was shown to our room, which was very old fashioned and basic, and as it was dark we couldn't see the view from the window. However, the following morning, we could and what a disappointment, we had no view, only the roof of an outbuilding. The weather wasn't good, we did travel down to the Eden Project and found a nice pub (Britannia) who do lovely food at reasonable prices. I did find the food at the hotel a bit overpriced, but the takeaway menu is handy if you want something later on in the evening.
We had booked our CLC meeting for the Monday morning 9.15am, we had a very pleasant salesman, called Keith, he introduced himself to us and took us in for our complimentary breakfast, and then onto one of the luxury lodges, which I have to say are gorgeous, they have all the facilities you would need on holiday, especially for a family or a few couples. We were then taken back to the hotel and downstairs into the CLC Centre, we were offered a hot or cold drink and introduced to another salesman called Ben. Have to say both Keith and Ben were very nice, theyre there to sell their product, its a job the same as anyone elses, we were under no obligation to buy, even though I can honestly say I was tempted with the offer, but felt that I didn't want to commit to anything on paper. The sales pitch went on for 3 hours and I was wondering if we would ever beat the traffic home, but once i'd made my mind up and said No, they accepted this, we all shook hands and was shown back to the entrance of the hotel. So even though we had poor weather and had to sit through 3 hours of sales pitch I can say the trip was a nice break. But, I wouldnt go back.
