I travel to Cornwall on business around once a month and in the past have tended to stay at National hotel chains. I do find these very impersonal and being away from home was becoming something I did not look forward to. So this year I thought I’d try a farm B&B, and after searching for one that had WiFi I came across Tregondale Farm B&B.

I’ve stayed at Tregondale B&B several times this year (2010) and find the rooms quiet, comfortable and well appointed. Most importantly for me the WiFi is reliable and I can get some work done when I arrive in the evenings. Stephanie and Mervyn are great hosts and seem to put up with my banal ‘townie’ questions about farming (of which I know nothing about!). My wife joined me on one trip and she really liked Tregondale. In fact, I normally leave booking hotels and B&Bs etc. to her. So she was really surprised that I found one that met her standards!

The local village pub at Menhenhiot is ok and serves simple edible food. But I prefer to go in to Polperro or Looe, as both are not that far away.

This was a very short break this time, but as always we had a lovely welcome from Stephanie, Mervyn and family. We have been many times over a number of years and always enjoy the peaceful and lovely surroundings. The views from the bedroom windows over the hills and beautiful gardens are great. As we live near the flight path to Heathrow Airport it is lovely to have such a quiet restful holiday - just the birds and animal noises. The breakfasts and the comfortable rooms are great too.

Beechleigh Cottage - self catering. This cottage was one of the best we have stayed in. We had a really lovely welcome from the owners. The cottage was very clean and light. The furniture was comfortable and modern and the kitchen roomy and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Beautiful surroundings and very peaceful. Top marks!

We have just returned from spending a long weekend with Stephanie and Mervyn with our almost 17 year old and what a great time we had.

This was our first stay at Tregondale but I hope that it will not be our last.

From the moment of our arrival we were made to feel not only welcome but also wanted and even our son enjoyed the stay and ate everything that was put in front of him.

I am not really a food expert but I would describe the breakfast and dinners we had as top notch home cooked food.

The rooms are very clean, well equiped and cosy and although we had very good weather it was easy to imagine how nice it would feel after a crisp walk over the moor or one of the many local walks to return to a log fire.

As for the noise well there wasn't any really and we live where the noisiest thing is an owl of an evening.
