I can't stress enough my amazement at the previous 2 reviewers comments.
I've stayed here on 4 separate occasions at different times of the year.
Firstly, let's get the matter of the hosts sorted. Mr & Mrs Jordan are, without doubt, two of the nicest people you could ever meet. They are warm, genuine people ever willing to help and, in my experience, do their utmost to ensure that you enjoy your stay. Nothing is too much trouble.
The Full English Breakfast, on each visit has been just that, full. 2 eggs, 3 or 4 rashers of bacon 2 sausages, lovely fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread, a pot of tea and 4 slices of toast in a toast rack. All freshly cooked in front of us. Lovely.
As far as the accommodation goes I cannot fault it. It had everything my friends and I needed, was clean & comfortable. Being disabled, my need for good quality mattresses etc., is very high. I slept the 'sleep of the dead' aided no doubt by the silence of the farms surroundings.
A previous reviewer commented on the 'wrecked cars & rusty tractors and boats. From what I've seen there's 1 rusty car surrounded by a few high weeds & other bits & pieces of farm machinery & it's all tucked away in the back of an out-building. As for tractors, rusty or otherwise, what do you expect to see on a farm?!
The only boats I remember seeing were a boat that Mr Jordan's working on which, at the time of our visits, was in a large 'workshop' and a little rowing boat residing in the same open sided barn as the old car.
Hartswell Farm is just that, a farm, a working farm. If you want pristine surroundings with nothing out of place then you'll need to go somewhere else. If though, like me, you're a lover of peace & quiet, in beautiful, unspoilt surroundings you'll love it.
One last thing, think about this: Do you think that Hartswell Farm would have stayed in business for nearly 20 years if it was as bad as previous reviewers have made out?! Enough Said.
We must stress that we're in no way connected to Mr & Mrs Jordon or Hartswell farm other than by being previous guests. However, following these stays, I do class Mr & Mrs Jordon as friends although this has had no bearing on this review whatsoever. It is perfectly correct to the best of my knowledge and recollection.
