As a woman travelling on her own I was instantly at ease here, set in a lovely house with beautiful gardens I was greeted by Gill and Glen with a cup of tea and the offer of cake.
My room was a lovely en-suite with a beautiful bathroom, spotlessly clean and with every little extra you could imagine and then some... with a sewing kit, toiletries and hairdryer,tand a teacup full of flowers from the garden on the windowsill.
The teatray included bottles of water, a box of twinings teas including fruit & herbal, earl grey and breakfast, a mini jar of Nescafe gold coffee, hot chocolate and horlicks fresh milk not little packets, andthe perfect finishing touch - a little tin with homemade bisucits.
In the evening I was served a the most delicious 3 course meal. I chose to dine with Gill and Glen and it felt like a wonderful evening with friends. The meal was homecooked with all the vegetables from the garden and would put many five star restaurants to shame.
In the morning I was offered a selection of cereals, I chose muesli with fresh fruit salad, homemade bread still warm from the oven with homemade preserves - simply delicious, and this was followed by a full english with thick cut bacon and a quality sausage.
Knowing that I had a busy day ahead and was unlikely to get a chance to stop for lunch, I was given a delicious homemade muffin to take on my way.
In short, a wonderful bed & breakfast with beautiful clean rooms, fabulous food, and even better service from Gill and Glen. I hope I'll have a reason to return to this area and I will be making a beeline for Higher Searles Down.

Well, certainly the best bed & breakfast in Cornwall. We came across this entirely by accident (via Bodmin Tourist Information booking service) and it offers a fantastic location and service that far exceeded our expectations. Our tired arrival in early evening was greeted by tea and the offer of home-made fruit cake. Gill and Glen were the perfect hosts, not to mention their extensive knowledge of the local area and history. Breakfast includes a selection of home-made delights to choose from, including fresh fruit salad to start, freshly squeezed orange juice and warm home-made bread and preserves if you've any room left after the full English breakfast!
The rooms are spacious, overlooking the beautiful cottage garden, with en-suite facilities - including a heated towel rail (bliss!) - and the perfect blend of traditional and modern. On the tea tray there was a small tin that contained delicious tiny home-made biscuits, perfect after a day discovering the treasures that the North Cornwall coastline offers.

One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at. Glen and Gill greeted us on arrival with tea and home made cake. They were friendly, hospitable and made us feel very welcome. Excellent breakfast including home made bread and jam. Beautiful location on Bodmin Moor with wide views down the valley and only 5 minutes off the A30. Couldn't fault it.
