“Good Old Fashioned English Hospitality”

This was my husband and my 4th or 5th visit and this time we went with friends. As always Pat & Bernie welcomed us like old friends and showed our friends to their room. Which as with all their 3 rooms was clean, well aired and warm, with crisp fresh linen and good amounts of tea and coffee making facilities.

Bernie cooks the most fantastic Full English Breakfast and will change items if you don't like something ie scrambled eggs instead of fried. Plenty of tea/coffee, ceral and toast available.

Pat & Bernie are not intrusive and once you have the key to your room it is yours, as they will not then come in unless invited, not even to make the bed, come and go as you please.

We have always been so impressed with Carden Cottage a well situated, quite location to use as a base for seeing the sights or just visiting the beach a short walk away. This is a chocolate box village by the sea, with local walks, a church, 2 pubs The Old Albion which is friendly and serves good home cooked food, and The Cornishman (not been to). Close to Newquay and on the local bus route that runs late.

Looking forward to our next visit hopefully later this year. Thank you so much to both Pat & Bernie.

“Friendly and well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Comfortable and friendly B&B (ask Bernard about his MGs!) set in a quiet and unspoilt village yet remarkably close to Newquay. Ideally situated for coast path walkers and only a short walk from the clean and expansive sands of Crantock beach. Room (the Blue one) was clean and comfortable, if unremarkable, and had a nice outlook over the fields at the back.

“Wonderful, friendly - a delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

We stayed at Carden Cottage on night four of a walking holiday from St Ives to Padstow. The location is great (just south of Newquay). The rooms are spacious and well laid-out; the breakfast was amazing; and Pat and Bernie, the proprietors, were fantastic and made us feel like we were staying with old friends. We'd definitely recommend staying with them.

“A Little Gem”

We arrived at 8.30pm to a lovely warm welcome by the owners Pat and Bernie.

The whole place is very clean & well maintained. Our bedroom was a delight, very comfortable king size bed with lovely fresh bed linen and towels. There was a plentiful supply of good quality tea and coffee, all were willingly replenished when requested.

Bernie cooked a great hearty full English breakfast with a good selection of cereal and plenty of toast.

Pat & Bernie have been running the B&B for approx 10 years and are excellent hosts , not at all intrusive, they made us feel very much at home during our stay and were full of useful local information. Bernie even gave us a lift to the start of our walk and arranged car parking for us at the village hall when we vacated their B&B to continue our walk.

Crantock is a very quaint little village, mostly holiday lets now within a few minutes walk to the beach. There are two pubs, The Albion which is more of a drinking pub and The Cornishman opposite which serves large portions of delicious well priced food.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Carden Cottage - enjoy as we did!
