“Consistently good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed again at the Hotel on 2 night DBB deal which represents good value, food has always been good and service could not be faulted. Hotel was very quiet on this occasion but sometimes breakfast can get busy especially at weekends and/or if sports teams are using the Hotel.
Sleep quality is not the best and beds could do with upgrade to better mattresses.
Swimming pool is quite good along with sauna and steam rooms, as previously stated the Hotel is slightly off the beaten track but generally good for most places of interest nearby, also being only 35mins on the train from Walton makes it somewhere cheaper compared to city Hotels of a similar standing.
All in all we will continue to use the Hotel as it is a good allround base when visiting family, local attractions, or the City.

“Do Not Stay Here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This place sullies the otherwise generally reliable Holiday Inn brand. Can you believe there's no central heating in the rooms. Last night it was FREEZING! The air-con system provides no meaningful heat and is too noisy to allow sleep. The message on the tv screen says "superb bathrooms". There is nothing remotely nice about the bathrooms. Small, cold, no shower pressure, nasty plastic toilet seat, worn towels. And again, no heating...not even a warm towel rail.

The tv is a circa 1995 square box. It has cable channels piped in but of course is not designed to receive them so the pictures and graphics don't fit. What a joke!

I used the gym. But the weights equipment and machines are so out of date they are probably dangerous.

Is it too much to ask to get a smile from reception when you check-in. Apparantly yes! There were 3 guys on the bar. The English bloke was incredibly rude. Had clearly received no training in customer relations.

I was told there was no rooom in the restaurant. It was empty. Half an hour later a coach party arrived and filled it. You would have thought they might have reserved some tables for hotel residents! So I ordered a bar meal. My hot food arrived on a cold plate. Incredible schoolboy error. The bar was full of children yet the TV screen was showing some sort of vile cage fighting event. Remarkable!

This was my third Holiday Inn stay in as many weeks. Compared to the others, the Shepperton branch deserves ZERO stars. My company uses this hotel regularly ( 100 nights a year). Now I have had the misfortune to stay there myself I would like to apologise to everybody else who has had to grin and bear it and assure you that I am going to search for an alternative immediately. This is, quit simply, the coldest, most unwelcoming excuse of a hotel that I have ever used. An absolute disgraceto the Holiday Inn name.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

“Nice hotel in a surprising location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

A one night stay while going to a concert in Kingston. Was a 'points break' stay so very good value at 5,000 points. I was upgraded to an 'Executive' room which was large & clean, with a good quality DAB radio. However the TV was on old style CRT model with a limited range of channels.
For some reason the hotel is is a dead spot for mobile reception, on two networks, making it impossible to use data on a phone and an ipad. The hotels internet service was very expensive. An equivalent Holiday Inn in the USA would have inclusive wifi.
The hotel is located down a quiet country lane, close to the Thames, you wouldn't think you were within a few minutes of a big city. You do need a car if staying here though.

Due to the nature of my trip I didn't experience the bar or restaurant.

“Pretty average HI”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Our family (two adults, two girls) stayed for a Saturday night in early January and had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. We had to have our swim on Sunday mornng because there is a hotel policy not to allow children to swim in the evening (the deadline could be 7pm or 8pm I can't quite remember, but check if this is important to you.) Also, children are not permitted to use the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi and a sign points out that this is due to legislation (all I can say is try telling that to Center Parcs - but I was there for a break, not an argument, so let it pass).
Parking was no problem although there is a barrier, but tokens are readily available at reception.
Dinner on Saturday night was frankly below average quality but above average price - this is typical for Holiday Inn and it's just as well that kids-eat-free, but I wish we'd gone out to a pub instead. £55 for our meal was about £15 more than it should have been.
The pool was good and I'm told the gym was too (I tend not to darken the corridors of such places myself).
The room was adequately lit and furnished although I'm glad we were not intending to watch TV as it was a very small screen. Our bed was comfortable with the usual HI choice of pillows. The girls was OK for them - bit creaky though. A really nice touch that they appreciated was that toileteries and towels for them had been placed on their bed. The bathroom was OK and clean.
Wireless internet is provided but at an extortionate price - so take your own wireless modem for G3 unless your package includes internet. Same applies to phones.
I'll freely admit that we love buffet breakfasts so this should have been a real highlight. It was OK but is it too much to ask for fresh fruit to be fresh? tinned peaches and tinned grapefruit are not my cup of tea and the juice and coffee could have been sooo much nicer.
So there you have it, average all round really - better than a Travelodge, worse than a Marriott.

“Ensure you know your way there!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Perfectly adequate Holiday Inn, very smart porch and lobby area and friendly staff. My biggest piece of advice would be to have a look at its location before you set off, and make sure you put the exact postcode into your satnav, as just expecting to turn up in the vicinity and hoping to spot it would not be successful!! It's down a country lane next to Shepperton Marina, and at first you're thinking Where On Earth Is This Hotel?? But then you arrive in its bright driveway and all is well. I was on a course with 30 others, and several people had really struggled to find it. To be fair, the directions on the hotel's website are good, but sometimes you just try and wing it don't you!
