“Wow wow wow!”

I visited the Waterside Inn to celebrate my fiancee's birthday and our engagement over a year ago and to this day I still cannot stop talking about what a fantastic experience we had here.

As soon as we walked in we were treated with the most exceptional service and have yet to receive such a warm and professional welcome. Diego is the epitome of a front of house manager. The bedroom was immaculate and comfortable and then there was the food...

I am fortunate enough to have eaten in a lot of Michelin starred restaurants but this goes above and beyond any gastronomical experience I have had. Every course we had was spectacular and as the courses went on only got better and better.

Looking out over the river topped off what was an amazing experience. Can't recommend enough, just can't wait to go back!!

“Exquisite food and service !”

We stayed here as a pre Christmas treat. My husband had booked a package through Amex which included the tasting menu, wine pairing and an overnight stay and breakfast. The food and service are wonderful. The staff are mostly French but are friendly and helpful in a way you don't usually get in France. We arrived in the dark and were a bit confused about where to park but our car was taken away and parked for us. Our room was very pretty and comfortable with a lovely bathroom. We were also shown a kitchenette area where we could make drinks ( nice idea but we didn't use it ).

The service was superb. We had a drink at the bar and were then shown to our table. The food and wine were beautifully presented. The menu was amazing - very luxurious food. The food looked and tasted wonderful. We were so full we declined coffee and petit fours as my husband wanted to smoke but the waiter brought them up on a plate to our room which was a sweet touch. My husband was able to sit out and smoke on the lovely terrace.

Breakfast was fine and served at the time we had ordered. The staff phoned first to ensure we were ready. There was a nice basket of bread and croissants but I don't like eating in a bedroom and it was a little cramped on the table.

We would definitely go back for a special occasion but would probaby go by train and get a cab back as it wasn't as far from home as we had thought. I would love to go in summer and really enjoy the view.

“Attention to detail second to none”

We stayed at the Waterside Inn to celebrate my birthday and were very well looked after. The staff are very helpful and there is incredible attention to detail to ensure it is a memorable experience. Dining at the Waterside is stunning and the views from the restaurant and terrace over the river are beautiful. Service is attentive but discrete and the food sublime. All rooms are individual and you can choose a room to suit your style. The only criticism of our room is that it didn't have any views. There is a small kitchenette available to guests for drinks etc and breakfast, again delicious was served in our room. We would love to return for another special occasion and hopefully next time stay in a suite !

“Swan-like delivery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We stayed overnight after eating in the restaurant for my wife's birthday, in a package from Amex, whiched added to its value for money.

Everything was just so smoothly provided, that you knew you were watching swans in action, working so hard to appear so serene.

Breakfast in our room was so nice, and the attention to detail so good.

If I had to change anything, then a bigger bed, in a room that would easily take it, would have been a real bonus, as would a slightly bigger table to have breakfast off, but that is being picky.

The availability of the manned kitchenette was a real bonus

“Amazing food - Can't wait to go again”

I stayed here in the middle of winter and it was a great night away for a birthday.
They checked us in and took care of the car with in about 5 minutes.
I also arranged as a surprise for others to meet us there. The staff were very discrete and so helpful sorting this out.

The room we stayed in, in the main hotel was ok – it’s a bit dated and not really my kind of thing. What was lovely was the shared terrace outside the room overlooking the river and pretty countryside – which in the summer I bet is lovely. I bet you can easily have there before you head home.

The room was tidy and bathroom spotless with nice big towels and decent toiletries.

Before dinner the waitress took us outside, which at first seemed a bit odd since it was so cold but she showed us to a small out door ( heated !!) gazebo where the others were waiting for us. It was a great touch and I was really impressed. We had a drink in there and they brought some hot canapés to get the night started.

The restaurant and food were just a different grade. I love my food and here just didn’t disappoint. Make sure you skip the meal before. We all had the tasting menu with the matching wines. There is more than enough food and they are not tight with the wine. Dinner takes up the whole evening rather than the usual half an hour rush. A really great way to relax and catch up with friends and family.

The service was excellent throughout the whole meal. Some of the best service I think I have ever had in a restaurant. There whenever you need them without them lurking or being intrusive.
I couldn’t eat all of one of the courses as it was just too much for me but the waitress thought it was because I didn’t like it and offered to exchange it for something else.

I am really pleased to say that The Waterside Inn has a great reputation for a reason and the food is as excellent as everyone says.

I will definitely be going back – hopefully in the summer when we can make the most of the location.
