“Excellent value with special offer but not worth full price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

My partner and I had a rewards vouche from our local Total garage which entitled us to one night free - this meant that for an Executive Suite we paid £42.50 per night including breakfast. This is excellent value, especially due to the suite which was large and comfortable, although a little worn. Had we have paid the full price however, it would have been quite disappointing simply because of the noise! Our room faced the back of the hotel so lots of noise (very early) from deliveries etc and also a large fan/generator which made our bed shake at 5:45am when it came on and was loud thereafter. The bar prices are very high - £4 a pint and £3.60 for a bottle of lager. Also, our room was still being cleaned at 3.30pm, despite check in being from 2pm. If you get a special offer, this is a good hotel, good location, very nice lobby area - there seemed to be lots of business people around and lots of corporate events. Access to the Bannatynes health club and spa is excellent and 10% discount on treatments for guests. Overall, would have been almost perfect if not for the noise, and also we would have had more drinks in the bar if they werent so expensive.

“Disappointing well below average”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2010

I joined my group of 40 friends & colleagues for the christmas meal on Saturday 11th December 2010 for a 3 course meal.
The starter (melon) was the best part. The turkey was curled up at the edges, the vegetables didn't have hardly any taste, the portions were very small indeed, they tried to disguise this by using smaller plates (one of the tricks of the trade). The dessert was traditional christmas pudding with brandy sauce, of which was luke warm and again not very tasty. So overall I and my group were very disappointed.
The food wasn't half as good as it used to be - shame really

“Comfy, friendly but oh my the food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2009

Stayed from Saturday lunchtime to Sunday morning with a group of friends for a celebration. The hotel itself appeared warm and clean, if in need of a makeover in places. The staff were pleasant and willing to please. My room, again clean and warm although nothing special. Luckily staying only one night I I didn't have many clothes to share room with the ironing board squashed diagonally into the wardrobe.
My main complaint is about the food. Bland Pate, over cooked fish and grey vegetables came at a none too measly £28.50. Have had much better pub food for half the price. Breakfast not too bad if you can ignore tinned mushrooms and tinned fruit. Would use the hotel again as long as I didn't have to eat there.

“Superb staff, good food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2008

We stayed at Brooklands on 15th August and had our wedding at the hotel. Many of our guests stayed over too and although a couple of them said the rooms were in need of some decoration the overall feeling was that it was a very pleasant stay.
The staff were fantastic and could not do enough. They were efficient and always on hand but sort of managed to dwindle into the background.
The rooms were immaculate downstairs that we used for the wedding and the reception. We hired the nightclub for the evening reception. The plants/flowers in the reception area were well maintained which made it ideal for taking photos.
The food we had was very good. Well presented and plenty of it. Breakfast was average but breakfast is generally very average in this country when you compare it to overseas. There was a selection of bacon, eggs etc, cereals, yoghurts, toast and so on. All the things you'd expect. The dining hall was spacious and there were plenty of free seats.
We had the honeymoon suite with the round bed (there are 2 honeymoon suites). It was again immaculate, couldn't find fault with it. There was a bottle of champagne in there and flowers. A sofa to one side and a beautiful bathroom.
I'd definitely stay here again and we will be visiting for a meal in the near future.
