We held our annual ball at The Holiday Inn (formerly Brooklands) on Friday 19th September. From planning the event right through to the actual night the staff were extremely helpful and accommodated our every whim. The night ran smoothly with great food and great service. Would recommend.

Myself and my partner visited Brooklands on Sat urday 11th June to celebrate our anniversary. (We met in the bar at Brooklands 1 year ago)
Whilst we didn't stay at the hotel and therefore cannot comment on the accomadation we can however comment on Blakes Lounge Bar and Brooklands Restaurant.

There had quite obviously been an afternoon wedding reception and whilst we didn't arrive in the bar area until 7pm there was confetti and squashed crisps still quite visible on the floors with the tables full of uncleared bottles and glasses...All in all Blakes bar area looked a disgrace.

Having been an avid fan and regular of the old Brooklands Restaurant in Barnsley how totally disappointing the meal and service was.
Negative points:
Not enough waiting staff :we were left with uncleared plates for 25 minutes and it took forever to take our orders.
Crammed onto tables whereby you could hear every word of the next table....this created an uncomfortable atmosphere..not the romantic setting we had expected on our anniversary.
Food lukewarm and not enough.
The famous "Barnsley Chop" had a supplement on the normal menu price of £16.50!!! An outrage!

Even the gorgeous white chocolate cheesecake had burnt butterscotch ontop!

Really disappointed and very sad that such a wonderful reputable institution is going to rack and ruin.

After going to the Brooklands hotel (Holiday Inn) Barnsley last Xmas for our staff Xmas outing we were very disappointed with the food, service and entertainment. We complained after the event to the management, our comments were welcomed and we had feedback straight away. After visiting the hotel again last night for a Pre Xmas 2011 event we were overall very impressed with the changes that have taken place. Although the service was a little on the slow side the overall experience was excellent. The staff, food, entertainment and overall experience of the night was very enjoyable. The food has improved 100% and so has the entertainment. Our staff in the department would never have gone back there again after our terrible Xmas Party but I can safely say I think we will be booking again this year. The new management have done a fantastic job of changing the hotel round from bad to good. I just hope everyone gets an opportunity to go back and see how the hotel has changed for the better.

My partner and I had a rewards vouche from our local Total garage which entitled us to one night free - this meant that for an Executive Suite we paid £42.50 per night including breakfast. This is excellent value, especially due to the suite which was large and comfortable, although a little worn. Had we have paid the full price however, it would have been quite disappointing simply because of the noise! Our room faced the back of the hotel so lots of noise (very early) from deliveries etc and also a large fan/generator which made our bed shake at 5:45am when it came on and was loud thereafter. The bar prices are very high - £4 a pint and £3.60 for a bottle of lager. Also, our room was still being cleaned at 3.30pm, despite check in being from 2pm. If you get a special offer, this is a good hotel, good location, very nice lobby area - there seemed to be lots of business people around and lots of corporate events. Access to the Bannatynes health club and spa is excellent and 10% discount on treatments for guests. Overall, would have been almost perfect if not for the noise, and also we would have had more drinks in the bar if they werent so expensive.
