Just stayed at this hotel for a night away to celebrate my dad's 55th birthday. Having seen some of the reviews on TripAdvisor, we weren't convinced but called Best Western to ask about it. Apparently there's a new manager and it's being refurbed (which we saw evidence of).

Breakfast was amazing and considering we booked on the day of arrival, the deal wasn't too bad at £160 for five of us in two rooms including a continental 'help yourself' and full English cooked to order.

We also managed to have two swims and the jacuzzi was nice (although on the second day it was just a hot pool because of a powercut). The pool itself was a good size and there was a nice sauna and steam room.

The receptionist was friendly and changed one of our rooms to a family room from a double so that we'd be together at no extra cost. One of the rooms smelt a bit of cigarette smoke but this wasn't too bad once we got used to it.

The location was ideal: close to the A1(M) but we couldn't hear any traffic noise.

Had yet another fantastic New Years Eve at Ardsley house. As always the staff were welcoming and helpful, the meal was first class and the excellent band set the atmosphere for an amazing night. A live link to Big Ben at midnight accompanied by the piper was a lovely touch and made the start of 2012 very special. The hotel has had some terrible reviews and as a regular visitor I am aware that these are largely down to the new owners. They are forcing the management to make many cutbacks but still provide the same service. I feel that Miss Kelly and her team are doing a fantastic job considering that they are being forced to work for greedy businessmen who have no real interest in the hotel. It was such a shame that Miss Kelly wasn't there to share New Years Eve with her guests. My satisfaction was echoed by all the other guests I spoke to and was only slightly tainted by a horrible little ginger man who shouted at the staff all evening and into the next morning who (judging by the state of his car) couldn't afford his bill and clearly wanted a freebie. Thanks again Ardsley House.

What a briliant New Years Eve from our booking in with Claire on reception to our checking out with Natalie our overnight stay was superb. We stayed in the Stainborough Suite which was large,clean and well decorated with a four poster bed and large bathroom. After a champagne and canape reception we sat down to a brilliant 5 course dinner which was served with a smile, nothing was too much trouble an alternative starter was provided as I did not like the one on offer. The live band that provided the entertainment were brilliant and got everyone on to the dance floor the piper at midnight was an excellent addition to the evening as were the chimes from Big Ben on the large screen. The whole evening was a delight from start to finish and was topped off by bacon butties at 1.30am.The breakfast next morning was again served with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks again to all the staff too numerous to mention who really made our stay brilliant we look forward to staying again in 2012
