“Ideally situated on the banks of the Teme.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The Talbot is a lovely old hotel in a great position under Ankerdine Hill and next to the Teme at Knightwick. It is ideally situated for some glorious countryside in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and is on the route of the North Worcestershire footpath with Worcester, Malvern, and Bromyard close at hand . I cannot comment on the Hotel side of The Talbot but can only say that my meal there was excellent. Much of the produce cooked is locally sourced and as a bonus, the hotel has its own Teme Valley brewery with some lovely hoppy ales. I found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and welcoming and I would rate the restaurant as 4 star. Yes it is true that some of the meals are quite expensive but not excessively so when you consider the ambience and quality of cooking. I shall most certainly be dining at The Talbot again in the future.

“brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Everything about the knightwick exceeded our expectations.
The staff were wonderful, we were made so welcome both by staff and regulars. The food, especially the breakfasts, were the best ever, and the little touches, like the damson gin in the bedroom for a nightcap, and the home made biscuits for with our coffee were the icing on the cake. We went by bus and train, and were within easy reach of both Hereford and Worcester. Can't wait to go again.

“Value for money no!”

My partner and I booked to have Sunday lunch at the talbot. What a disappointment, the food was unbelievably over priced and it was not that great. We did complain but if I am honest the waitress could not care, all they were interested in was getting on so to speak it was not as if they were busy. The location is lovely, I also would like to say the locals who drink in there are very offensive, there language unbelievable and there drunken manner is definatley not acceptable, don't they have nothing better to do than take the p..... And be very vulgar. We will not be eating here again and also we will tell our friends to avoid the pub, think the owners should look at there customers who they serve as in my eyes they should not be allowed to drink as heavily as what they do, are they driving? The answer to that is yes, very, very drunk and driving to. I will be making a phone call to the local police this is not acceptable. Avoid this place.

“Good but over-priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

We stayed here overnight as part of a walking holiday. We loved the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff and our room was perfectly acceptable given the age of the building.
Our only real issue is that a misleading menu and genrally high prices meant we paid nearly £100 for a meal and drinks in the evening- something I never managed so far even in London!
The food was good but the prices do not fit to a country pub. The rooms are also a little on the pricey side. Main advice is read the menu very carefully (Including the back page where the prices are hidden) before ordering food.

Breakfast was great, as was the packed lunch we ordered. It's just a shame that the surprise cost of our meals rather spoiled our memories of this otherwise charming place.

“Enjoyable stay, although expensive”

We really enjoyed our stay here.

At lunchtime we had a Ploughmans lunch in the bar and it was excellent. The bar itself was good it had ales on from its own brewery which we enjoyed. We also ate here in the evening, again the food was good but expensive.

Our room was lovely it was very clean although it did need updating in places but there was some nice touches i.e. the jar of homemade biscuits.
