“Could not fault it!”

We stayed here using the recent groupon voucher and unlike other groupon hotels vouchers we have used at no time were the fact we were using a voucher ever mentioned. We have noticed at other hotels that they resent the fact you are staying there on a groupon but no not here. We stayed on a Sunday night and it was very quiet with no problems parking for free at the rear. We were given a massive suite called Lorina. It had a four poster bed lounge area with corner suite and a bathroom. It was dual aspect and had everything you could want. We ate in the evening in the brasserie and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The hotel is very old as described which adds to the quirkyness of it. Lots of small lounges with comfy sofas and open fires. The breakfast the next morning was fab. I had smoked haddock with a poached egg which was delicious. All in all I could not fault the hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive and the rooms were great. If they do another groupon voucher snap it up!

Room Tip: Ask for the suite Lorina.

“Lovely two night stay on Groupon voucher”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

My husband and I have justb returned from a 2 night midweek stay at the Old Bell using a Groupon voucher.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We were given a deluxe room in the old part ofthe hotel and it was lovely. It was very large, with a sofa in a little living area and a tv. The bathroom was enormous, with a huge old style bath and a separate shower. We both slept well, although the bed, which initially we thought was massive, actually turned out to be twin beds pushed together, which was not so comfortable in the middle of the night. The only real complaint I have about the room is the fact that our bedroom door was clearly opposite a service room door, and the staff coming in and out early in the morning were very noisy. Other than that, we enjoyed the room.
The staff were welcoming and friendly, displaying none of the sniffiness which occasionally accompanies the use of a groupon voucher.
We also ate in the restaurant, which was neither cheap nor particularly expensive - we enjoyed 3 courses and a bottle of wine for £105. Whilst my husband really raved about the food, some of it was a little eccentric for my taste, and there were some strange combinations on the menu. What we did order, however, was nice, and the chef is clearly aiming for a unique dining experience. We ate at the nearby 'Whole Hog' pub on our second evening, and the food was excellent, although much more tranditional!
We would recommend the hotel to others, and I certainly felt that we got a fantastic deal with the voucher. I would not be prepared to pay full price for the rooms though, and have stayed in more luxurious hotels for the same price.

“Exceeded expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

A lovely hotel in a really pretty setting by Malmesbury Abbey. This hotel was stylish, cosy and the perfect place to relax in that limbo period between Xmas and New Year. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was gorgeous, big sleigh bed, a bathroom I would've loved to transport home and all with a great view.
We didn't eat a formal meal in the hotel as we had our dog with us (great that we could take her along) but as she wasn't allowed in the main restaurants, we had lunch in the dog-friendly and buzzing The Smoking Dog down the road (recommended by the receptionist). However, later when we asked if we could just have a sandwich in the lounge, the staff despite being run off their feet, were very obliging.
Malmesbury itself was an unexpected pleasure, nice wee independent shops (Wild Food Deli is great), it's a great wee town, nice friendly locals and well worth a visit.
I was very impressed by the whole experience.

“A really fantastic weekend away in beautiful Malmesbury”

My husband and I recently stayed at The Old Bell in Malmesbury and stayed using a Groupon voucher. We absolutely fell in love with the hotel from the moment we arrived. excellent central town location which meant we could easily stroll through to the Abbey and then onto the local shops. The hotel is so beautiful and welcoming. We stayed in the winter and I would say this showed off the hotel to its best - log fires, cosy armchairs. The decor was contemporary and not at all twee. Staff were very helpful even before we had arrived helping organising a taxi booking for my father in law who was joining us for dinner in the evening. Our room was huge and very well equipped and furnished. Dinner was really some of the best food we had eaten - innovative and beautifully presented. The service was also excellent. We left from our overnight stay rested and very well looked after. I would have no hesitation in recommending the town and the hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and high quality weekend away!

Room Tip: Try and get to the hotel early to ensure you grab a parking space as these are limited especially if...
