“Fantastic, amazing find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

We stayed in the B&B for 2 nights and it was absolutely superb - the rooms were big and clean and the breakfast room was lovely (not to mention the absolutely delicious breakfast that was served!) We had a corner bath too which was great! Even received a glass of wine upon arrival!

The bedroom looked onto the huge garden with beautiful views through sliding glass doors, where you could sit outside on the patio, where we also spotted a deer walking through the bottom of the garden!

Not too far out from Bath, and this place made our visit absolutely brilliant, would definitely stay again.

“The pictures don't do it justice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2009

we have just returned from a long weekend in Bath staying at Spinney Cross. This is a small but beautifully decorated B&B, the rooms have the most fantastic views and access to your own terrace area. The breakfast choice was plenty and the quality of the food was top notch.
I would highly recommend staying at this B&B as the host Dot and Michael are not only very nice people they are very helpful in guiding you around the surrounding areas.

“Absolutly beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2009

My husband and I have just returned from a break at Spinneycross and cannot rave about it enough. The views are amazing, the rooms spottlessly clean and comfortable. Our bed was so soft and comfy, the bathroom with a lovely deep bath with all the toiletries you could need.

Dot is a great hostess, made to feel at ease the moment we came through the door and offered us a glass of wine on the patio overlooking Bath.

As for the previous review regarding the surrounding area, it is a taxi ride into Bath or a short drive, its depends how much you want to pay. There is a pub at the top of the drive but we never got to go there. We got a taxi into the nearby town on Bradford on Avon, which is beautiful and has plenty of pubs and restaurants, well worth th £20 return taxi fare if you both want a drink. I would definitly recommend this hotel despite its secluded location, I think that adds to its charm.

“Location? Depends on your point of view”

I will not be returning to Spinney Cross. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of guests who will enjoy what’s on offer but it just it’s for us.

This is a B&B with lovely views overlooking the countryside across to Bath. Beautifully tended garden with an area for sitting out. A relaxing place to let the world go by. Spinney Cross is located in a hamlet a few miles out of Bath. Be sure to follow the directions carefully, the last part is single track road and no street lights. Despite what other reviewers reported my arrival welcome was luke warm with no offer of a drink.

Our room was spacious and contained everything you would need. The bathroom was well provided with toiletries, although I’m loathe to use a tub of body lotion used by someone else! Artificial flowers abound on every surface and corner. The breakfast was very nice.

For me the downside is the location. A previous reviewer said there was a bus route close by. Its only close by if you take your car and drive to the bus stop, it is in fact a 35 minute walk. We drive a lot day to day and when on holiday like to arrive at a place to park the car up for the duration and walk/bus about.
After our first trip into Bath by bus we didn’t want to risk the walk back at the end of the evening, along a road with long stretches without pavements, and instead caught a taxi (£11.00). And again the lack of street lighting caused a problem – there is no porch/internal light left on for guests – and the place is surrounded on the approach by trees adding to the darkness. A security light comes on for seconds – not even long enough to walk down the path from the parking area.

Of course many people will like the solitude........
