I recently had to travel to Salisbury for work. Not being a fan of big towns or cities i searched the local area for a quaint English B&B, and thats exactly what i got at The Angel. I arrived early evening and was greeted by the Landlord, who was very accomodating and sympatheic due to my long journey time (i was stuck on the A303 for longer than expected!)
I was shown my room, which was clean, fresh, cosy and very comfortable. I freshened up and quickly checked out the bed (as very important!!) and didnt want to move, always a good sign! But i did, and made my way back to the bar of this beautiful old Inn. I was welcomed again by the Landlord who took me through a selection of house reds. I choose a scumptuous Pinot Noir and sat myself down by the fire. I hadnt made a booking but the delightful waitress said i could either stay by the fire or have a table in the restaurant. I opted for the restaurant. I was shown the menu and had the specials talked through to me whilst my mouth watered at all the fabulous local produce that was on offer. I had fishcake to start, which was very tasty and an equally tasty salad garnish with it. And for my main i had one of the specials of Halibut which came with the creamyist of mash potatoes ive ever had and some perfectly cooked vegetables. I managed to squeeze in a desert of mascapone, lemon and pinenut roulade which was sensational!
I had to be up and gone by 715 which wasnt a problem for the kitchen. I had a lovely breakfast with lovely fresh coffee and paid by bill, which was very reasonable (considering i had 2 more glasses of wine).
Overall, i was very impressed with the whole experience of visiting the Angel and i am looking forward to being sent to that part of the world again!
Once again, thank you to all the staff.
