“VERY RUDE”

The owner is very rude and didn't want us there because we had children. We would have eaten lunch but because the owner was SO rude we just ordered drinks. He was very rude to us when we ordered drinks and if my friend had not already paid for hers I think I would have left! Made us feel very uncomfortable, don't go here!

“Great for a country break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

A very welcoming and comfortable pub. We visited as a family in december and stayed in a family room. A bit cold on arrival (no heating until 5pm apparently) and very small telly - but you don't go to Hindon to sit in your room and watch TV - go our for a walk in the beautiful surrounding country. The bar had a log fire burning, giving not just heat but a great atmosphere. Breakfasts were very good. The christmas menu for large groups wasn't anything particularly special with just a couple of options (hard to do anything else when caterring for large groups), but use of a separate dining room gave our party an opportunity to enjoy a large family gathering in a way that isn't practical in many pubs or restaurants. We didn't eat in the restaurant apart from that as we were visiting family in the village, but the specials board looked very enticing. Well kept beer.

Smashing place. Welcoming, clean, just reallly nice. The food is several notches above standard pub fare - imaginative and very good indeed. Sound pint too.

“Lovely English country Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

I stayed here for three nights with my wife and daughter (9) we had a family room which was adequate regarding space, The room was clean and well set out with a small tv and tea and coffee making facilities,The floor was uneven and the walls crooked which must be expected from a 17th century building,
Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and efficient lady who checked us in and showed us to our room, This level of service continued throughout our stay, the staff here really take an interest in you and nothing is too much trouble,
We dined here on two of the three nights and would have happily made it three but for other commitments, the menu is not extensve but the food is excellent ,all locally sourced and cooked to your liking, There is a good wine selection at reasonable prices and traditional beers and lagers available in the bar.
Breakfast is superb with everything available, even grilled kippers.
I would highly recommend this establishment and we would definately come back,
There is plenty of car parking spaces available

“Historic Wiltshire inn with terrific ambiance and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

The Angel in Hindon is an 18th Century Coaching Inn with 7 bedrooms and an excellent restaurant. Hindon is a charming Wiltshire village. The restaurant serves a mix of traditional and contemporary English food with high quality locally sourced ingredients. Standard menu plus specials board. We enjoyed fresh local Plaice with a Bloody Mary marinade and Pot roast lamb shoulder - both interesting, fresh and nicely presented. Food (including the puddings) is home prepared and significantly better than standard pub fare - and priced very reasonably. The service was friendly and efficient. In all, an excellent and memorable meal.

The bar is friendly and has a good (and reasonable) wine list. Beers available were the excellent Timothy Taylor Landlord, Brakspears Bitter and Sharps Doom Bar. They were fresh and served in the correct glasses.

We stayed overnight and found the accomodation to be excellent - a freshly decorated and simply furnished room with comfortable bed and quality duvet and pillows. The room retained the character of this wonderful 300 year old building. The bathroom was new, and clean. Only negative was that the shower in the bath was a hand set and there was no shower curtain. Bath filled very quickly from the high pressure water system. I stay in hotels all the time and this was easily the nicest room I've slept in for a long time. It was very good value as well at £85 B&B for 2 people.

Breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent (Cereal, fruit, fruit juice, coffee & tea, toast & preserve, porridge, cooked breafast or kippers).

Overall the Angel is getting close to the top of the game. Well run with an experienced owner/landlord who has a dry sense of humour and great presence. He also has good attention to detail - so much about this inn is excellent. A very enjoyable stay - we'll be returning.
