We visited Whatley Manor this past weekend and I am happy to recommend it extremely highly! We arrived at this beautiful country hotel on Saturday lunchtime and after checking in, the hotel tour and settling into our upgraded room we headed straight for the spa... all I will say is that it was fantastic, relaxing and so luxurius. My other half who travels extensively and has frequent massages said he had the best massage there that he's ever had. And my massage was brilliant too! The steam rooms, saunas, indoor/outdoor pools were all fantastic and of the highest quality.
After the spa, we headed to the main lounge where we had a delicious afternoon tea with home-made fruit scones etc by a roaring log fire as the snow fell outside the window. Luckily we had booked dinner in the 2 Michelin star restaurant for 9pm so we had time to get hungry again! Dinner was fantastic, the wine (Mount Etna) was brilliant and the cocktails were perfect.
The only complaint I had was over the bed. Although the room and bathroom was lovely and luxurious, the bed was large, but it was two single beds pushed together and instead of a double duvet there were two single bed duvets instead, which is apparently a Swiss thing?! They kindly delivered a double duvet when I asked, but it was a bit small for the bed, which was uncomfortable due to the ridge down the middle of it. Our room was No.19, which was gorgeous, but did not have a good bed.
The next day we had a delicious full English breakfast before going back to the wonderful spa and we spent the day relaxing in the bubbles and steam before heading back to reality. We had a simply fabulous time and next time I would just specify what sort of bed I would like :)
