“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed at this wonderful bed and breakfast after a last minute change of plan. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was warm and inviting. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked with high quality ingredients. It is definitely the best place to stay in Amesbury and Salisbury, it also had a good walk in price. We would recommend this B and B to anyone. We will be back . Nice Indian restaurant a few doors down.

A wonderfully managed family run private hotel where the client is a name not a number in the register!
Fabulous breakfast !
Great staff!
This is my preferred place to stay in the area when on business. Highly recommended!

“Fantastic stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

From knocking on the door to leaving this morning the stay was great. the staff and owners go out of the way the way to help and are extremeley polite. the room we stayed in room 5 was clean, ground floor, warm and inviting. i was worried about the hotel being on the main road but had no problems at all.
Now the Breakfast! wow. again staff tripping over themselves to be as helpful as possible. the food was excellent.
One highlight for me was the well behaved children at breakfast, young lad first i thought he was a guest, i was wrong they are a credit to the owners.
would i go back? too right i would and i would stay longer too.

Last point FREE WIFI was a massive help for us.

“Definitely recommend: Friendly, clean, comfortable, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Fairlawn House during a few-week trip across the UK. During our travels, we saw it all in hotel stays--the excellent, the "it'll do" and the downright horror show. Fairlawn was one of the nicer experiences we had!

We chose the Fairlawn because it is close to Stonehenge (we had early morning tickets to the site and wanted to be close--it was only 5 minutes away!). But, even though we chose it for its proximity to Stonehenge and its very reasonable rate, we would choose it again for many reasons!

Pluses:
--Owner, Keith, was so welcoming and pleasant--had great ideas for restaurants.
--Breakfast was fabulous, and the service outstanding
--Close to Stonehenge and Salisbury
--Parking included and close by
--Lovely B&B--inviting comfortable sitting room and small bar--nice for chatting with fellow travelers
--Room was large, comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was the same
--Great value

Downside
There was only one downside, and nothing the Fairlawn could do anything about...our room faced the local pub a few doors down--and it was karaoke night. Keeping the windows shut helped dampen the noise a bit. So, if you are a light sleeper, you may want to request a room not facing the local bar :)

“A lovely B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We stayed here one night on the way to Stonehenge. We found the owners to be extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely - furnished beautifully and very clean. The only problem we had was that there wasn't any hot water in the morning when we went to have a shower and the drains weren't draining properly in the shower or hand basin. There is a nice Indian restaurant a couple of doors down and it has some delicious food if you are looking for dinner, and Amesbury is a nice little town to wander around. There is a fuel station within easy walking distance to get any of your food etc needs. The breakfast was absolutely delicious - a selection of continental items from a buffet and whatever you would like to order for a hot breakfast. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your lovely comments - it is important to us that our guests have an enjoyable experience. Keith is particularly proud of his breakfasts so it's great to know you found that to be one of our strengths.

So sorry you had problems with the plumbing - it is such an old building and whilst this does make for some lovely "features" and character, the plumbing does give us and our guests a few surprises from time to time! We are looking into replacing the hot water systems at some point in the near future so that it is more consistent.
