“Almost what you expect from a travelodge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

As a family of 4 we always stay in a travelodge on our travels as it poses good value for money and our expectations are few clean, and comfortable is all we ask. generally these expectations were met although the sofa/bed was a bit poor with torn material and the pull out bed from under the sofa smelt musty (as i lay on it to get my youngest to sleep) and why do travelodge do that thing when you book for a family of 4 you only get 2 towels, 2 cups and one pillow each. they happily gave us more towels and cups but had "run out" of pillows as they were fully booked?????

Top tip if you do not like to eat at little chef or burger king down the road is solstice park which has a harvester (not the greatest meal we have had from harvester mind) pizza hut, kfc and probably more. ( As the receptionist said it is just down the road minutes to drive but to walk you would have to go cross country to avoid walking along dual carriageway without paths and this takes approx 40 mins) staff very friendly

“Okay for the £19 rate”

Stayed here to do a bit of an explore of the area while work being done on the house - It was fine as we got it on the cheap rate, but it's not exactly a holiday destination. Room was standard travelodge fayre and if you really feel like treating yourself, there's a little chef opposite.... Enjoyed a quick beer over there in the evening! It's not easy to walk to anywhere in the evening so you may need to stock up.

It's fine for a weekend or to break up a journey, wouldn't want to pay the full rate though.

“great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel with 2 adults and 2 teenagers for a short break around the Stonehenge area. We paid 45 pounds in total which makes it possible to take a break in a hotel once in a while. The room was larger than I expected with a double bed, a proper 1 person sofa bed and under the sofa bed a pull out bed. We needed all the beds and the room was large enough for that, luggage and walking space. It was very clean and staff were very helpful. Because it was November we needed heating and when we arrived the room was aired and warm. There was enough parking space and staff were very helpful in providing some local info. Little Chef and Burger King near the hotel are to be avoided. LC was overpriced and Burger King was not very clean. There is a supermarket quite close by and a few nice restaurants in town. I was an excellent place as a hub for going into Bath, Cheddar Gorge, and Salisbury, and of course Stonehenge.

“Very very basic, great for £12 sale rate, not for more!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The room was clean and although basic, satisfactorily equipped. The first member of staff we met was very friendly, the second the next morning, less so.
The bed was poor quality and not comfortable for two people but I would still have given the hotel a higher rating were it not for the lack of heating.
When we arrived about midnight after a wedding, the room was so cold you could see your breath. We turned on the electric heater and went to bed. We also went and got another (paper thin) duvet fro
reception. We both woke several times in the night shaking with cold as the heater kept turning itself off. I'm pregnant and it felt ridiculous to be in a hotel the temperature of a garden shed. The next day the receptionist asked us if everything had been ok, we said yes apart from the temperature and explained the problem. She seemed cross with us for not just saying yes! She said the heaters are fine and it couldn't have been that cold.
We can't comment on the shower/towels/kettle as we were too cold to use any of them. The room also smelt strongly of smoke.

Assuming it's not always so cold, I'd definitely stay at a Travelodge for the £12 sale rate again, especially if you just need somewhere to crash after a wedding. But I'm not sure we'd pay the rack rate.

However the next door Little Chef did an excellent, warming (!) breakfast. Clean, great service and with a 30% off flyer from the Travelodge reception - a bargain!
