“Ate here with son and girlfriend on New Years Day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

A dull cold wet day...we needed somewhere warm and cheerful to raise our spirits. Bar meals only available, but served by charming and friendly staff. Fires burning at both ends of the room, but sadly giving out little heat so we felt a bit chilly. Food quite good, excellent steak sandwich and good sausage and mash, deserts of chocolate brownie and a cheese board good but not thrilling.

Overall, good enough for us to return at some future date and we did particularly appreciate the welcome from the staff.

“Cellar Pass and beer drinkers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011 via mobile

The sour grape person who complains about 'locals' and their use of the cellar pass should make him/herself known. The locals spend a lot of money at the excellent bar and the management are kind enough to allow access to the cellar, usually if the beers at the bar are not to our palate. I am certain that 'sour grapes' would be allowed access to the cellar should they be brave enough to ask. Long may the Cellar Pass exist. Great service to all, fantastic choice of beers, a marvellously convivial company at the bar, and did I mention the beer.

“Cellar Pass”

Quite rightly, this hotel has an excellent reputation for beer. My only issue is this ridiculous business of 'cellar passes' where those in the know can join an elite group who are allowed to have beer straight from the cellar. This often means that by the time the beer reaches the bar, the barrel is less, often significantly so, than full.

This is obviously a system for locals, but, for goodness sake - can't they just wait a bit until the beer appears on the bar?

“Nice hotel located in quiet location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011 via mobile

I've stayed here a few times before when on business trips and have always found the staff friendly and helpfully and the food impressive and value for money.
The bar also stocks a good variety of ails or beers and serves a good pint of guinis.
The rooms are spacious, though wired Internet didn't appear to work and I'm not quite sure why the lamp plugs next to bed weren't standard pins? Would have been good to charge my phone there.
Bathroom was nice and well equipped, though only 1 out of 3 shower jets worked, please rectify!
Good selection of tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate in room and bed was comfertable, so was ideal for relaxing and watching TV on.

“what a shame”

We have just returned from a one night stay at Moyles Hotel. The hotel bar and staff are superb. Nice atmosphere downstairs and staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms at a glance are good, bit on the small sign but for a short stay thats not a problem. But things slowly got worse. We unpacked and noticed how dimly lit the rooms were. When the curtains were closed the lighting was terrible. I decided to try and the huge shower in the bathroom and wash my hair. After trying for around 5 mins to get the large shower working I asked my husband to have a go, the shower consisted of a very impressive shower with three heads one low down one in the middle and one above your head. To the left of this was a normal shower head coming from this monster shower. It sooned dawned on us the huge impressive shower either didnt work or had been disabled and just the normal shower head worked. the problem with this was that it was on a wall mounting that didnt pivot, it was almost impossible to have a shower underneath. That was of course if there was any hot water. I had a lukewarm shower forgot about washing my hair and quickly went to get ready. The room consisted of 3 mirrors, a shaving mirror of around 6 inch a lovely full length mirror near the door and the bathroom mirror all no where near a plug socket!!!! If you decide to stay at the hotel just take and extension lead and miners lamp and you will be fine, as apart from these few silly issues that could easily be rectified the hotel is great!!
