“Just wonderful...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

El Jardin is a little too far away from town to walk to, but the trade off is well worth it. Nestled into a hillside of flowers and birds. El Jardin is peaceful, quiet and has stunning views. The owners maintain a very high standard with the accomodations; the rooms are very clean, wonderful bright colors with excellent beds, and the meals are simply fantastic - every single one of them. It is a small, intimate hotel and I understand that it was originally designed and run by an architect and her chef daughter. Timothy and Dauphine are the new owners. The rooms are all unique, very comfortable and painted in wonderfully vibrant colors. I loved it, as did my husband (also an architect). The pool is a great feature too. Small enough so you're not tempted to swim laps, but large enough to cool off and float around. My husband and I stayed at El Jardin 6 nights over Christmas, and then 4 more nights in town. There was no comparison. Downtown is fine if you're interested in late night dancing or the bars, but if you want to relax in comfort, safety, quiet and good food, El Jardin is the place.

Room Tip: The rooms next to the pool are lovely.

“Beautiful and Gourmet”

Stayed a few weeks in early Sept. Nice and quiet as it is off season. The place is Gorgeous with beautiful views. Lightning storms over the Bay were fantastic. Peace and quiet compared to being in town. Timothy and his wife are the recent owners. Tim is supposedly and "amatuer" chef but i have had meals there that make the best gourmet restaurants in Florida pale in comparison. The rooms are simple but beautiful. No TV's but this is a place to relax and you can't find better in town. Timothy and his wife are a wonderful and interesting well traveled couple who are very accommodating. Tim set up a nice Scuba dive for me with a great local dive master. Would return in a N.Y. minute

Room Tip: all nice. depends on how big a group

“El Jardin - one of the best hotels I have stayed in”

We stayed here for the final week of our holiday around Nicaragua and found it to be the perfect way to both to relax in a bit of luxury and to visit San Juan del Sur and the surrounding beaches.

The sunset views over the bay were amazing, our room was spacious and comfy and the French/Belgian couple were really friendly and helpful - giving us lifts to the beaches and town centre and helping to organise surfing and turtle watching tours for us.
The real highlight was the food which wouldn't be out of place in a top restaurant back here in London- try the steak and enjoy the breakfast.

I close my eyes and wish I was still there!

“Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

My husband and I have just spent a relaxed overnight stay at El Jardin. Room 10 and 9 have wonderful views of the sea. The rooms are bright, clean and very pleasant with their own balcony, which is perfect for a relaxing stay. The owners are wonderful hosts and the food, which is prepared by Timothy the owner, is made with care and the passion of someone who loves to cook. Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to have a peaceful break away from it all! Would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to anyone who prefers small hotels that have a personal touch.

Room Tip: The rooms to the front with the sea views are well worth requesting

“Amazing view, great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011 via mobile

Stayed here for two nights and loved it. The view is amazing (from room 8), the rooms are great, and it's not far from town and the beach. The owner was even nice enough to drive me into town. I could have spent a whole week there.
