We arrived at Morgan Rock after a harrowing border crossing from Costa Rica. We were hot, tired and a bit unsettled. When we arrived the staff were lined up to greet us with cold fruit drinks in hand. This was the "luxury" part of a trip to visit family in Managua. There were three of us, including an eight year old boy and an adult with some knee and mobility issues. We were worried about navigating the bridges and paths to the casitas. We had also looked into other places in the area...there seem to be so many lovely places, but finally settled on Morgan Rock because they seemed to be family friendly and had nice activities for the eight year old. We loved the cabins!! We did the farm tour and visited a local school, both very fun for all of us. We spent time on the incredible beach and in the beautiful pool. We stayed in a cabin that required a short walk over the suspension bridge (near the security guard's dwelling). We were all able to manage it fine. One night during dinner, we were surprised by an intense electrical storm that took the power out (not unusual in Nicaragua, but the torrential rain, thunder and lightening so close scared the little guy). We were a bit scared navigating the bridge and slippery paths in the wet and dark. The staff accompanied us with umbrellas and flashlights. The staff is amazing. We found the food to be very good. The staff was very good about meeting the needs of a picky child and an adult craving Nacatamales. The coffee and fruit drinks were wonderful. This is rustic luxury and we knew that going in. We were not disappointed. We were there for three nights, but would have liked to have stayed longer. It is expensive. We are a school teacher and a social worker, so three nights was our limit. What you pay for here is the amazing service and the beautiful, private, remote location. It was worth every penny and if we can afford it, we will return.
