Spacious air conditioned rooms with large bathrooms and hot showers met our needs. Not exactly charming, but certainly adequate, and well kept, clean. The staff is accommodating and helpful. Centrally located near the San Juan del Sur church. Breakfast was average for Nicaragua, nothing special - fruit, eggs, reconstituted jiuce, weak coffee. We had a large double room at $75, including tax. Would probably spend $20-$30 more for additional luxury and charm if we came to SJDS again, but this place is clean, will meet your needs, and is a reasonable value in its price range.

I'm from NY so I thought the prices were ridiculously cheap. You can definitely stay elsewhere for cheaper, but here you get a clean, safe (they even have a night watchman), comfortable room with a pool, mini fridge and the best pancakes I've ever had (seriously- you have to order the banana/chocolate). The breakfast is complimentary and you can have a variety in case you don't want to eat pancakes everyday like I did. They are in a great location- 3 blocks from the water/center of town, but just far enough away where it's not loud. Mike, the owner was super friendly and knowledgeable. You can call back to the states for free as they have Vonage.

This hotel is located on the corner of a block that overlooks the main church in town. Only a couple of blocks from main bars, restaurants, shops etc and about 4 blocks from the beach.

American owner was really helpful and made every effort to make sure we were happy. Breakfast was included and a good standard. Free tea and coffee 24/7 a nice touch.

Only drawback is that the pool wasn't the most inviting. But if you're in SJDS you're probably there for the beaches so it's no big deal!

Always had security and has a locking gate at the front.

I have visited this hotel four times, since 2001. The last visit was in November 2011 and I will be coming back for sure. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood, has big clean rooms with good bathrooms and the staff and American owner are very friendly and helpful. I like it especially because it is an excellent deal. Pricewise it is in the 'middle class section' - around some USD 50 for a single room but with all the comfort you need for a relaxed stay. The beach and its restaurants are only 5 minutes walk away and you can walk around at any time of the day or during the night, it is a really safe area with lots of small businesses, b&b, shops, etc.. Only one thing I would welcome: A better choice on the breakfast. The typical Nicaraguan breakfast is quite poor. But overall a super deal and in my personal opinion the best deal to stay overnight in San Juan del Sur.
