“Small resort in quiet location”

We spent 5 days here in a 1 bedroom casita and it was a very enjoyable stay. The location is not perfect if you don't have a car but we were happy to spend most days by the pool and just relaxing. It's a bumpy 15 - 20 minute ride ($15) to SJDS, so once you're at Mango Rosa, it's best just to stay there. We made one trip to town for groceries and to look around, which was more than enough. You can walk to the beaches (Marsella and Maderas) but I would recommend getting a lift - the beaches are especially nice at sunset. The food at the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. The service was very good and there's a fun atmosphere in the eating area. There's a variety of Mexican dishes (nachos, tacos, fajitas, quesadillas) as well as burgers and chicken wings. Every night there are specials, which were also good and just slightly more expensive. The casita comes with a kitchen which is fine for cooking basic meals - especially breakfast and lunch. My only complaint is that the casita is a bit worn and dated - probably time for a fresh coat of paint and some updates to the furniture and decor. The pool was great (very clean) and the grounds are nicely landscaped with tropical flowers and trees. All the staff at MR was friendly and seemed happy to be working there. Dexter was very professional and looked after all our travel arrangements and answered any questions we had. Overall, I would recommend MR as a resort, especially if you're not looking for the bar or restaurant scene in SJDS.

“We'll be back !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Myself and my wife along with another couple headed to Nicaragua for some sun and surf. A friend recommended we stay at the Mango Rosa resort. So glad we did we, we had an amazing 10 days. Daily shuttles to the beach and also took advantage and did a 4x4 surf trip with Dexter and a boat accessed trip with Kerbin and Ronald. We couldn't have asked for more ! Our days started with breakfast at the restaurant where we were greeted by smiling faces Nancy, Herado and Michael. Breakfast was a good mix of Nica/American cuisine at a good price. Then we would find Dexter and see what the surf report and tides were and make plans to head to the beach. Once we were surfed out we would head back to the Mango for lunch by the pool and usually a siesta. Back to the water for a sunset surf then dinner and a few Flora de Cana's at the Mango. On the days we didn't surf we walked down the road to Vince's for some frisbee golf or into town for a little shopping or Ziptrek's all organized and shuttled by the staff at the Mango.
It truly was a vacation we will not forget. For us the Mango was perfect it was quiet at night yet town was a close enough for the night we headed in. Our 2 bedroom house was clean and comfortable. The best part of the Mango for me was the staff Dexter was amazing he always had time to answer questions, organize tours, shuttle us to the beach or take a break and come for a surf. We all feel we've made new friends that we hope to see again soon. Greg was also always around to help with questions and organize our boat trip and make sure we had everything we need. At night we were in the good hands of Dwight and Julio at the bar along with Indilicio(sp) We were sad to go and hope to be back soon.
Thanks Dexter, Greg and the rest of the staff for an amazing vacation
Miss you guys
MIke and Jeralynn

“Take the family to Mango Rosa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My son 18,and I spent 4 nights in 1/2012 at MR. Its about 15 min from San Juan and minutes up the road from Marsala and Madera surfing beaches. The resort consists of about a dozen different size 1-3 brs casitas , scattered around the compound. These are all very modern, clean, and beautiful. The main gathering, eating,& drinking area is a huge open air "rancho",incredibly designed, with a great blue pool and grill area. The food is always very good or better. Its a great place to chill or you can join the American owner Greg on a memorable fishing, sunset, booze cruise. My son took a surfing lesson, and got up immediately..kudos to teacher Dexter. San Juan is a $10-15 trip away.A car would be an option, available in SJ. The staff was friendly and helpful, and Greg is a great host.

“Perfect vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

One of the best vacations my husband and I have ever taken. This area of Nicaragua is gorgeous, the coastline and beaches----some of which we had to ourselves--were amazing. This business is so well run. I felt like everyone at the resort was looking out for us and making sure we had a good time. We did the adventure package, and it is a wonderful deal. Each day Greg would ask us at breakfast what we wanted to do that day. We felt we had our own concierge.

The resort is too far from town to walk to, but there isn't much there you need. We ate all but two meals at the resort. Each night has a different themed menu in addition to the set menu.

The casitas were sooooo wonderful and romantic! The ac works great.

We want to bring our friends and families back to this magical place.
