We stayed at the Garden Inn this past weekend for 2 nights while visiting Hershey Park. We visit Hershey often, and planned this trip last minute. There weren't many options because most hotels were booked, but we were happy to find that there were rooms available here because the ratings made it seem like a great hotel. When we arrived, the hotel did seem great. The staff was very friendly and helpful and willing to accommodate our request for the type of room we wanted, but I guess others had requested the same type of room, because when we opened the door we were surprised to find someone was already occupying it. And I bet this woman was not so happy to have the door opened by a group of strangers while she was changing her clothes. We called down to the front desk and you'd think that they would have sent someone up to at least apologize to us and the poor woman we barged in on, but they had us come down to get a new key, like it really wasn't a big deal. And obviously privacy was not a big deal to them, because the lock on the bathroom door in our room was broken, which was more than annoying when you would like some privacy in the bathroom have two little ones running around. But, let me assure you, I made sure that the room door was bolted shut when were were in it for our entire stay! The beds were extremely uncomfortable, like a thin layer of foam placed on cement, although the sheets and bedding were clean and cozy. The coffee maker still had a used packet of coffee in it and the pot was dirty. Other than this, the room seemed clean, which is a huge factor for me, and it was very close to Hershey Park. The pool was nice, too, although there was so much chlorine in it that it bleached my daughter's hair. I will not stay here again, nor would I recommend this hotel. Not maintained well or staffed with competent management for the price.
