i typically book a room in advance at another area hotel. however, this time i did not and the hotel was completely booked. so hubby and i decided to try the extended stay as a second choice.
the front desk attendants were very friendly. but that's about it. our room was a bit dingy and uncomfortable. it didn't seem fresh, at all. there was a random towel lodged in between the sheets that made me think that the bed wasn't even made by the housekeeping crew. the bathroom door was so dirty, i barely wanted to touch it.
i wasn't expecting the ritz carlton but cleanliness is a must. for the $ you can't really complain. location was great for us - it's a very safe area - but i'd only stay again as a last resort.

“Its affordable for a reason! filthy and noisey!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

My partner and I were only in town for the weekend not on vacation so we were looking for a no frills hotel our only requirements were a clean room with a comfortable bed which are the two things this hotel completely lacks. The bathroom was filthy, hair everywhere, dirty towels, smelly sheets and comforter and rust on the mirror ( which was also peeling). There was noise from other guests at all hours- we wouldn't have thought twice about complaining if this was a reasonable hour but its completely inconsiderate after 12am and before 7am! The hallways were also dirty- stains seemed to be all over the place along with unpleasant odors. Not to mention, the heater also stopped working which made it impossible to sleep. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car!!!

“It is what it is..."”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

If you booked this room through Priceline or some other online service, you probably got if for half price, or less. For what you pay, it is what it is...an inexpensive, no frills place to stay. I was there with my daughters (20 and 17), so we booked two rooms. They were clean, though the walls could've used some fresh paint and the carpets were worn.

This hotel is located in a decent part of the Philly metro area...business and residential, well north of the city. I felt completely safe, even walking outside after dark. BUT, it is difficult to find. Welsh Road is easy enough to find, but the only thing that actually fronts Welsh Road is the driveway, with a small sign. The hotel itself is located behind a couple of office buildings, and you won't notice it from the road unless you've already been there and know what you're looking for. Even with a GPS, we missed the driveway the first time.

All in all, not a bad experience. If someone was looking for inexpensive accomodations for a night or two, I would recommend this hotel. If you're looking for a family vacation place, or a romantic getaway, look elsewhere.

There are no amenities at all - no pool, no restaraunt, no newstand. It is what it is - inexpensive lodging. There is a standard size refrigerator, a microwave, and a two-burner stove in each room; as well as pots, pans, dishes, and flatware. If you're traveling on a budget, stop at the grocery store on your way to the hotel. If you don't want to fix your own meals, there are a number of restaraunts - both national chains and locally owned - within an easy drive (1 to 2 minutes) or walk (5-10 minutes).

The place was pretty much what I expected. For what I paid, I was satisfied with the value I received. The only thing that disappointed me a little was that a hotel trying to cater to business travelers still charges extra for Internet access. If you have 3G or 4G wireless it's not a big deal, though...I got a very good signal.

“DIRTY ROOM - HORRIBLE SERVICE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2009

Over the past 2 years we stayed at this hotel about 6 times excluding this stay. We always stayed there because of the good value, inexpensive stay with acceptable cleanliness and service. Well, things have changed!

Things were very different with this last trip. We were scheduled for 4 nights and arrived at about 1AM after a delayed flight arrival. Upon check-in we were given a 3rd floor room. As soon as we got off the elevator we smelled the smoke, pets, and a melting pot of food scents. When we got into the room the bedding was dirty (bodily fluids etc - use your imagination). The toilet was leaking and had a puddle in the middle of the floor, the room and sheets smelled of smoke (and we booked a non-smoking room). And there were dead bugs next tot he window and around the baseboards.

The next day we went to checkout and were asked how soon we could be out of the room (and it was only 9AM). Not that we needed to be rushed out, but it was not appreciated. Upon checkout the manager on duty gave us a $25 discount for the night and also said he would discuss the matter with the general manager to see about getting a free stay certificate mailed to us. Regardless of the attempt to make things better, I will never stay at an Extended Stay again, and I would highly advise that you consider other locations besides this hotel, our experience was HORRIBLE!

“Would never stay again, not even for free.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2009

I have never felt compelled to write a hotel review before, but I feel the need to get the word out on this place! I am typically not a complainer and can deal with hotels that are far from perfect.

This was one of the worst hotels that I've ever stayed in. Our rate was $95/night, which certainly isn't cheap. One of the lobby desk clerks was rude and offered no help when we complained about our room. She said there was nothing she could do, as they were 100% booked.

The room reaked of smoke, even though it was designated as non-smoking. We were given an ancient air purifier and a spray called "Smoke Away". The fact that they even have a spray like this behind the front desk is a dead giveaway to the fact that smoking is a problem at this hotel.

The room was filthy. My son's socks were black on the bottom by the end of the first day there, just from walking on the carpet. There was hair all over the bathroom floor (not our hair) and the bathtub had mold all around the caulk. There was also brown splatter behind our toilet...I don't even want to know what it was.

The beds were extremely hard and the pillows were flat and lumpy. The comforter was paper thin and scratchy. The bathtub buckled when you walked in it to shower. I felt like it was going to fall through the floor!

My mother asked if they had an ice machine and the response was "Yes! At the store!" and she pointed to the direction of the store. We couldn't believe our ears!

If you decide to stay at this hotel, you will need to bring everything. The only "amenity" they offer is soap. No shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. They have no ice on the premises and the only food is from a vending machine. They also do not offer housekeeping, unless you stay more than 7 days. So, don't expect your room to be cleaned while you stay.

All in all, it was a terrible experience and a total waste of money. Had our entire family not been staying there for a wedding, we would have left. Only one of our family members had a room that didn't smell like smoke and we had at least 15 rooms. All of them were dirty. There are other hotels in the area to choose from. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!
