“Fantastic Weekend Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Just returned from 2 nights away at the Settlers Inn and cannot say enough about it! Please note - the pulling up to the beautiful building we were met by mixed reviews as it is located directly off a busy street in a seemingly un-cozy location... but from the moment you walk in you are transported to a different world! Complete with a wood burning fireplace, live piano playing, fantastic staff, cozy rooms, classic bar and DELICIOUS FOOD!

Let me repeat that - delicious food! The meals will go down as one of the top reasons to return - and, be sure to look a their packages... as their meal options are fantastic. One dinner was included at The Inn and there were no food exculsions! Two key points - get the featured "hash" at breakfast if there is one... and the English Toffee Pudding for dessert!

Room Tip: Rooms are on the smaller side so call and talk with the front desk to discuse what the best option f...

“Anticipation Greater Than the Experience”

I first learned of the inn from reading their profile story in the Spring 2010 PASA
(PA Assoc.for Sustainable Agriculture) Newsletter and just always wanted to go for a fabulous dinner and one night getaway. Our dinner on MLK Day was served fireside in the lobby as is the norm on Mondays and Tuesdays. The four course tasting menu with wine pairings was fine but not remarkable as I was anticipating from the aforementioned article. My husband and I both orderd the beef for our main course and unfortunately each of my
medallions were difficult to cut let alone chew so I gave up on the last one. In fairness, my husband indicated that his were "OK". We loved eating in front of the roaring fire which was faithfully tended by a young woman with just the right knack! The most concerning part of our meal was the speed at which each course was served. The dishes came out one after another so quickly that before dessert was ordered we asked if we could have some time to just sit and enjoy the fire. Certainly wish we had said something sooner! Our room, #212, was lovely and the pillow top mattress w/ down comforter very cozy. Breakfast was served in the dining room and included with our room rate. My husband ordered oatmeal and a sweet potatoe hash/egg entree which came out at the same time therefore making it impossible to eat both while hot ...just assumed the oatmeal (which we were planning to share) would be served before our eggs. Know that this is not really a B&B and you will receive an itemized "bill" (w/ 0$ due) for your included breakfast so you can tip accordingly. We were not sure what to expect as far as activities in the area. We walked the lakeside trail from the Visitor's Center but that was about it...brought our ice skates but nothing was frozen solid and decided not to ski at the one nearby ski area. We could have ice skated at Skytop Lodge (which we did check out on our way North to Hawley) but it's a very small rink as is their ski slope. In the winter, the Settlers Inn is a charming place for a very quiet respite!

Room Tip: Inn is on Main Street which intersects another road at traffic light. We had the largest room which...

“Come for the room, stay for the food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Our first time at the Settlers Inn and could not have been more pleased. It was New Years weekend and although they were extremely busy there was no lack of personal attention to our every need. The entire staff went out of their way to make us welcomed and comfortable. The decorations for the Holiday were absolutly stunning, beautiful but not overdone. The building is a snapshot in time that truly takes one back to the period when the inn was new but still incorporates all the modern facilities. The common area is beautiflly appointed as were the rooms. If there is anything that you need to know about the area or the hotel just ask Debbie. The breakfasts were excellant and the dinners supurb. An extensive wine list is also a plus. Next time we stay we will know to not only choose and book our room early but to be sure and have reservations for dinner in advance as the dinning room is a favorite among the local residence as well. Only one very minor drawback, as in most older building sounds travel. This was magnified by the festivities for New Years but would not give a moments hesitation to our staying again. After everyone retired it was as quiet as could be. In short go and enjoy this absolute gem in Hawley Pa.

“A perfect retreat!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We spent one night at Settlers Inn for a spontaneous weekend getaway. Upon our evening arrival, we enjoyed the music of a piano player in the dining room. Front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our “Deluxe Room” (#211) was well appointed and very comfortable. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit the fireplace was unavailable for use. The room was located on the second floor, across from the stairwell, but we found our room to be quiet.

The included breakfast was very tasty and with prior notice, the kitchen was able to accommodate our dietary restrictions (vegetarian and vegan). Gardens on the property are nice to meander through and the Potting Shed gift shop had plenty of cute items. The region of with Settlers Inn is located has many quaint towns full of antique shops, good picnic spots, and scenic parks.

Overall, we had a lovely stay at the Settlers Inn and plan to return when we are once again able to employ the “last minute” 10% off promotion.

“Beautiful Property and Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

We stayed here for a second time in August 2011. The grounds of the inn are very nicely done and we were lucky to dine on the deck on the night with a great jazz combo. It is a great garden to take a glass of wine out and enjoy.
Be aware that there is no elavator, luggage to the second floor was a haul. Watch the type of room that you book. Rooms are smaller and the baths are smaller still. If you want more space, book the bigger room.
This is a special place but as we get older we find that we like no stairs and more space. A big improvement would be some type of outdoor pool or hot tub.
They are very helpful and we send a Thanks for their offer of phone help as we has a family emergency.

Room Tip: Pick the rooms with the jetted tubs and extra seating. Watch because some of the tubs are only sing...
