“Bare Minimum Accomodations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2007

This is not your normal Days Inn, when you call Days Inn's 800 toll free #, they tell you that this location does not exist ! This is a Day Stop motel run by a truck stop company (I believe it was Days Inn's failed attempt at budget accomodations to compete with motel 6) Check in is inside the convenience store. The location is great for the Hershey/Harrisburg area, right off I-84. Plenty of food choices at this exit, all within a short walk from the motel, some 24 hrs, since it is a truck stop. The room, towels & linens were circa 1970. Very, very basic room but slight musty/mildew & smoke smell. The bed was also circa 1970, not too comfortable, very hard. I would rate the cleanliness as fair, needs improvement! If you are traveling & looking to save money this place maybe (and I say maybe) acceptable for one night depending on your personal requirements, but I would not recomend it for families or kids, as it still is a Truck stop regardless of the name on the sign.

“Hotel at a Truck Stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2006

What you need to understand is that this small hotel is at the back of a large truck stop. There is a small sign at the driveway that is not lighted, and another sign atop one of those interstate highway signs that you can only see when approaching the exit from the east. If you are arriving at night, you'll need to ask around in order to find it. Also, (a small gripe) the website tells you that you are booking at Days Inn, not a Daystop.

There is no hotel office - check-in is inside the truck stop store. There is one lady who seems to know what she is doing, but the others seem lost when dealing with check-ins, check-outs, etc. If you walk into the wrong part of the truck stop, they don't even know how to direct you to the check-in area.

Because it is behind the truck stop and well set back from the interstate highway, the hotel itself is surprisingly quiet. The rooms are clean and the facilities are up-to-date. The A/C and heater worked well. The room was comfortable in size. The bedding was clean but definitely "budget quality." My room had an odd smell of cat that was noticeable to me but not overpowering.

I stayed there while attending a local dog show. There is plenty of space to walk dogs and convenient trash cans to dispose of waste.

The truck stop offers certain benefits just steps from the hotel door. A full convenience store and vehicle parts store are open 24 hours. I assume there is a (smoky) video game room within the complex. Also, there is a sit-down restaurant open 24 hours. I'd definitely stay here if I was arriving late-night or leaving early-morning. The movements of the semis and the truck drivers seem to occur predominantly on the other side of the building.

  • Liked — Large room and quiet location
  • Disliked — Difficulty of finding in and checking in
  • Tips/Secrets — Have the phone number handy - you may need it to find the check-in desk
