“Outstanding B&B on a beautiful farm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Only a few miles from major roadways with easy access to many sights from Longwood Gardens to Center City Philadelphia, this bed and breakfast is a lovely oasis. The historic main house has numerous public rooms. The breakfast is imaginative and hearty. There are rooms in the main house and there are several cottages only steps away. The cottages offer more privacy and, for some, kitchens. Fireplaces, wood or gas, are in every room. There is a fitness center, a mile and a half walk around the property and a relatively new vineyard and winery. We stopped for a night and look forward to a longer visit in the future.

“Delightful, friendly, warm, and professional.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

The room was charmingly decorated, the bed was comfortable, the inn itself was full of wonderful old-fashioned architectural details (yet totally modernized), the service was warm and friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and the grounds were gorgeous. I really liked that it was slightly larger than your average B&B, so it felt more like a small inn rather than just like you're getting a room in somebody's house. They have an adorable dog who is very well mannered and friendly and I was even allowed to go out for a walk with him around the beautiful grounds!

I especially liked the wide variety of books on all kinds of subjects that were placed in my guest room and the downstairs sitting room, which you could pick up and browse through at your leisure. I also appreciated the water, iced tea and cookies that were left for guests.

The only things that made it SLIGHTLY less than perfect: It was a tad farther drive to a few of the main area attractions than I'd hoped (Hagley Museum and Brandywine River Museum). Not terribly onerous, but maybe a 25 minute drive. And the inn's parking area was fairly dark at night; I would have appreciated a few more subtle pathlights to help in walking back to the inn.

To end on a positive note-- I appreciated that they had several smaller tables in the breakfast room in addition to the large group table, so if you wanted a bit more privacy you could have it (but still feel part of the group -- everyone was very friendly). And when I expressed that I couldn't eat the breakfast dish with cheese, without a moment's hesitation they asked what I would like instead and cooked it right up. Wow! Thank you Sweetwater, it was a delightful experience.

“Business or pleasure? - either way fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

I have stayed at this B&B a handful of times with my wife, and thought it would be the perfect place for my company's annual retreat. Wow - it sure was!

We booked the whole place (about 18 rooms) about two months out. The Sweetwater staff prepared in advance by asking us enough questions so they could match the event to what we wanted to achieve. Our team arrived and was offered a their choice of rooms (first come, first served) and the Sweetwater staff made them feel welcome right away.

Our first activity was a wine tasting in the new winery. We samples five great wines and had a "behind the scenes tour" of how the wine was made. We catered in dinner after that and then spent the rest of the night playing games in the common rooms and socialized by the fire with s'mores late into the night. All along the staff making sure we needed nothing.

The breakfast the next morning was "delish" and the staff at Sweetwater was ready to accommodate all of us eating together. After breakfast, we moved into the party room of the winery and conducted team building exercises around the property. Lunch was outdoors on the patio of the "big house" on a beautiful fall day and once again, I heard a lot of "yums".
After our afternoon session, we checked out and each person got a bottle of Grace Winery chardonnay to take home.

If you are looking for a getaway for about 20 employees, don't even think about - just book Sweetwater Farms.

Room Tip: While the "big house" is historic and cozy, choose a room in the cottages for a real speci...

“Another delightful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

The Greenhouse room at the Sweetwater Farm is wonderful for a family! We thought the breakfasts weren't as delicious as they were when we visited in the spring but it is hardly worth complaining about.

“Fantastic, In Every Way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011 via mobile

What a great experience it was to stay at Sweetwater Farm, not only is it the most wonderfully relaxing and beautiful place to stay, but you are treated so well by the knowledgeable and friendly staff.
It is a winery and bed and breakfast, and there is a tasting room in the barn.
This place is elegance and style all the way, without losing sheer comfort. I stayed in the William Penn room, very comfortable bed with great quality sheets and bedding. Blissful.
Breakfast the next morning was divine.
The only downside.... I had to leave.
Chris, Farrell & Sean - wonderful hosts!
