“Not all bad.”

This hotel seems like a work in progress. Apparently under new managment. They seem short staffed with cleaning crews and fix it guys but the front desk and manager were all really friendly and helpful. The one cleaning lady that we had contact with was friendly enough. Apparently if you arent staying at least a week they won't clean your room however you can exchange towels and sheets at the front desk at any time. There was no shampoo in the room but they keep it at the front desk. and signs say the front desk is closed from 11pm to 7 am but my wife and i were informed there is always someone there and normally two people at night. The young girl at the desk was open and honest about the changes going on and i actually look forward to coming back at the end of this year to see the improvements. I will come again.

“Not Recommended - Poor Quality”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

We checked in during the evening hours and immediately realized this was not going to be a pleasant experience. As seasoned travelers making our way to Wilmington DE then to Washington DC with a late start, we found this hotel and what we experienced was something horrible. The hotel may look OK on the outside, but once you hit the lobby you quickly realize that this is not a clean hotel nor a safe hotel. The staff at the front desk was fine and helpful. However, the filth was everywhere. The carpets stained, the side doors did not have working security locks. In the morning we found people working on their cars in the parking lot playing loud music. We couldn't believe it. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. One of the poorest quality hotels I've ever stayed in and frankly because of the lack of security this could be a very unsafe place to stay. Family's should never consider this hotel. We checked out the next day and never looked back. We should have checked with tripadvisor first.

“Very Unprofessional Staff at Exton's Extended Stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2010

On the morning my family and I checked in not only did I have to wait until someone realized that we have been standing there while they were talking away but while they were talking they were using profound language very loudly. During my whole stay I was always hearing gossip between all of the employees during the day. The night guest service was always not behind the front desk they were sitting on the floor in the lobby with a group of people and taking people behind the front desk. I brought this to the managers attention but obviously nothing was done about it because we later that week she had a young man who clearly does not work there behind the desk talking away. Not only was the service inappropriate the room was horrible. The carpet was stained, smelled nasty, bugs crawling on the walls in the hallway. This was the worst experience I have ever had in the U.S. The only experience that was good about our stay was the overnight staff. This young lady made me feel welcome and gave me anything that I needed during my stay. All else I will never stay at another Extended Stay America.

“Gross!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2008

We were staying here for a wedding bc the hotel next door was booked up early. We got to our room. There was a roll with only half the toilet paper ...the last piece was ripped, all jagged, as if someone used it prior to us checking in. The soap at the sink was half used -not wrapped and clearly worn down as if it had been used by the previous guests. The room smelt TERRIBLE. There were missing tiles in the bathroom floor. There was no shampoo or soaps. No bath towels in the room. No hair dryer. For 109 dollars a night, this was a TOTAL rip off. We immediately walked to the hotel next door, and luckily they had a few rooms that were open. We got in for the 3 nights, and let me tell you, after this place, it was like staying at the Ritz!! We also heard people at the front desk complaining about rooms. One said, while he was at a business conference, he came back and they had packed up all his things (thinking he was checking out, but was not) .
If you are looking for a place to stay that is comfortable and clean...do not waste your money here. I have stayed in nicer European bungalows for 20 Euros. Luckily, we just had to deal with this place for 20 minutes. The staff, to their credit, was very responsive when we asked for our money back. They didn't ask any questions (nor did they really care-probably know the place is a dump). They credited us, even after we "checked in" for 5 minutes. I'd rather sleep in my car!

“So bad I had to write this review”

Honestly the worst hotel experience I have ever had in the U.S. This hotel looks fine on the outside but inside watch out! Damp and dirty hallways, bugs in the room, and one extremely hostile staff person manning the whole operation. I checked in with my daughter Oct 5 for a 2 night stay while attending a lacrosse tournament. When we got there other families reported the rooms were terrible and that everyone who arrived earlier had quickly moved to another hotel (which of course was now full). The long line of people checking in took forever since families who needed 2 beds had been given rooms with one and the desk attendant was hostile and rude not to mention alone so each customer was a 15 minute ordeal. Since we got there after 7:30 we could not refuse our room without forfeting the nights deposit so we checked in hoping everyone else was overreacting. Unfortunately they were not. Even the prospect of having a night of fun with girls from her team could not keep my daughter in the room (the bugs all over the windows and walls did it for her) so we moved to a Hilton in Kennett Square at 11:30 pm which was $60 more a night but at least we would be able to sleep there. When I told the desk attendant at the Extended Stay about the bugs she said there was nothing she could do about it. They took one night's money from us and lots of other deposits from other teammates' families who moved to other hotels. If you are going to operate a hotel that is obviously used for Fraternity parties and the like don't rent room blocks to 13-year-old lacrosse playing girls and their families--that is just plain disgusting like your property.
