When I walked into the parlor I was greeted by a gentleman by the name of Fred. He was very courtous and kind. My husband paid him for the room and he took us to the Family room. I was very impressed. It was clean with fresh clean towels and the beds had clean sheets on them. My family and I went to Knobels for a few hours. After we returned out daughter feel fast asleep in the bunk bed which she loved. My husband and I did the same. The next morning we got ready for the day and headed down stairs to the dinning area where we were impressed with a wonderful tasting breakfast. One of the best I had in a long time. My family and I said thank you and we headed home. All the way home my daughter kept saying how she would like to stay there again when we go to Knobels. The Plum Pudding Inn was a comfortable and homey place to stay.

“A comfy Hamisha setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

We enjoyed our stay in the house adjacent to the inn. The 3 teen age boys stayed in the cowboy room and I was in the pirate room. My room was spacious and had an amazing Jacuzzi and a small refrigerator.. The boys' room was adequate with a bunk bed and a queen sized bed, a full refrigerator and a microwave. Both rooms had TVs with basic cable, adequate for a 2 day stay. There was a small porch with chairs and they boys sat out to access the wireless internet. Service was low to very low and barely adequate, but given the fact that I didn't want them computer connected the whole time, it was fine. I was able to access email and facebook. The location was central to the attractions and more convenient than the hotel we previously stayed in June. Liz and Fred were pleasant and accommodating and the fresh blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes were to die for! And to top it off, we really enjoyed meeting their 3 chihuahuas- Popeye, Sweet Pea, and Wimpy!

From the moment we made our reservations over the phone through the time we arrived and got to play with their 3 adorable dogs to having a breakfast fit for royalty in the morning, our experience with Fred and Liz at the Plum Pudding Inn. It truly did feel like we were staying with family. Great location close to Knoebel's. Amazing personal service.

“Worst place we ever stayed”

My wife and I arrived a day before our daughter and 3 young children arrived. We went to the bed and breakfast in town to pay the balance and pick up the key to the duplex. We followed Fred, the owner. We could not believe the run down condition of the home. We enterned from the back into the kitchen. Immediately, there was an oder of mildew present. The kitchen cabinets were dirty. The top of the refridgerator was filthy. We went about cleaning the kitchen with Fred. Fred asked his neighbor tenant to help. After a few hours of work we left for dinner and a trip to Knobels park. Returning 3 hours later, Fred and the neighbors were still at it. We found some dishes stored in the cellar entry way. After Fred and the neighbors left we set about washing all the dishes and laundered all the towels from the upstairs bath. The beds appeared to be OK, but we were just not comfortable with anything. Good thing we arrived ahead our family.

“THIS PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE. BEWARE!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

Liz and Fred are friendly enough but the place is old, rundown and not clean. When we arrived after a three hour car trip and lots of traffic we could not wait to get to our room and freshen up and get ready to go to Knoebels with my two grandchildren, 11 year old girl and 2 1/2 year old grandson and my daughter, his mother. We could not believe the appearance from the outside. Sheet rock lying against the house, the backyard was horribly dirty with a pool that was old, closed down and had black dirty water in it. We went into the living room that was so cluttered with furniture and debris that there was no place to sit or stand for that matter. We were in shock. Liz is an older lady who is visibly physically not well. She could hardly get up off the chair. The dining room and kitchen were so old and unkepted that we cringed at the prospect of eating anything there. Fred escorted us to the Western Room, It it right on the street, old, small room, bathroom has not been updated in at least 40 years. Old used looking colored and faded towels. The bedding was old and fadded and did not appear to be very clean. It was only about 5:30 pm so we paid because we were embarrassed and felt sorry for Liz and Fred but this was no excuse for this mess. As we looked around more we realized there was no way were could stay there. It was just dirty and horrible. I don't know how they can stay in business and the board of health has not closed them down. We called a lovely place we had stayed in several years prior and we lucked out and were able to get a room immediately. We then went back into the living room where Liz and Fred were and told them we were leaving and apologized to them but said to them that is just was not what we expected. They were upset, and could not understand why but they did give us our refund. Maybe at one time many years back it would have been a decent placed but not anymore. We felt very sorry for them because they are probably just trying to make a living but it is unfair to people who will be traveling long distance and then have to deal with this situation. Their website is very deceiving because it was done years ago. There is also a photo of Liz and Fred and you could see that they were at least 25 years younger then they truly are. Knoebels is great and so reasonable. The only problem we found was alot of smoking allowed in the park except for the little kiddie area. Otherwise it is a great place to go for kids of all ages.
